I don't like the Beatles, but I know most of their music....and I can't really think of any drumming that stands out.

The conventional wisdom is that the Beatles were great enough that the drummer didn't matter. Wrong! Pete Best wasn't fired because of his haircut or a personality conflict. He wasn't a good drummer. Ringo brought superior technique as well as an easy going style that lended itself to the job at hand.

Ringo was always a solid drummer. His drumming war rarely front and center with everything else the Beatles were doing.

Yes because simple beats make you a great drummer.

I mean, doesn't totally suck, but kind of mediocre

luckiest man alive, beatles were not known for drumming, ddn't Paul do the solo on Abbey Road? Wasn't Ringo pulled from Please Please me or Love Me Do for ALan White or something?

I realize I'll get raked over the coals for this, but I've never seen the shine and adulation that people wash over Ringo Starr. Yes, he was a Beatle....but he was the weak link in that chain, barely able to tap out a backbeat most of the time (and when things got going, the wheels really came off). Benefitted mightily from the true talent he landed arse-backwards in. I've always considered him to be the luckiest one-two pounder on the planet.

Ringo was underrated as a Beatle-but their music was not very challenging rhythmically.

He's decent, but not one of the legends. Alot of hi hat tapping. In alot of the early Beatles songs, He's more of a metronome then a drummer.
