 | Bruce1959 (0) 08/15/2007 | A full flavored beer with just a hint of a chocolate. Not a heavy beer like most darks. I would rank this as one of the top three dark beers available in supermarkets in the USA. Reasonably priced and the distribution provides a fresh product.

 | VeracruzD (4) 06/20/2007 | Negra Modelo is dark as the name implies. It has a hearty flavor, but not too heavy. It is my 3rd favorite behind Victoria and Indio beers. I like it better with food than as a stand alone beer. I can drink Coronas without food; but not many Negra Modelos without some backup. It is certainly one of the best foreign beers available in the U.S.

 | 25yoWM (9) 04/11/2007 | Excellent hearty offering that goes great with most dinners and is not especially bitter. It's a Vienna Lager, so similar to Sam Boston Lager.

 | ProjectKram (0) 10/19/2006 | When looking at the bottle, and taking in the "negra" factor, you'd be surprised by the taste of this beer. Doesn't have that heavy bold flavor most people associate with "dark" beers. Don't get me wrong, it has a kick, but a smooth one. Though I personally prefer regular Modelo, this is a very good brew.

 | drunkbull19 (0) 05/23/2005 | I was surprised when I tryed this. Its actually pretty good tasting. Hard to believe this is the same company that makes the watery nasty tasting Corona.

 | stevey (0) 03/31/2005 | It may be dark to the eye but not to the palate. The finest Mexican brew, bar none. I have drank most all Mexican beers including micro brews and Tex Mex, this is their finest. Great tasting on the way down, incredible after taste of chocolatey cinnamon combination. Modella Epecial a close second.

 | magellan (153) 03/03/2005 | Tastes like a dark beer, but doesn't have the weight of a dark beer. Reminds me a little of some of the quality brown ales - Newcastle, Brooklyn Brown, etc. Very, very good beer. Just don't let the ignoramus bartender try and jam a lime in this beer - just because it's Mexican doesn't mine you drink it with a lime.
