 | Ohlode (0) 07/19/2008 | While stationed in the U.S. Cavalry at Fort Bliss, Texas in the 1980's I went over to Cuidad Juarez on Sundays to buy my beer. I would generally look for the best deal that week. Carta Blanca was usually the cheapest. Modelo Especial in bottles was slightly over $1.30 for a six-pack so I picked it up one Sunday. My local friends in El Paso told me this was Modelo's premium beer; better than Corona which was actually Modelo's cheap export. Somehow Corona caught on with the Yuppie crowd but little did they know that Especial was the better of the two. I've drank it ever since. It's the only beer that I find comparable and often better than the finer German beers of my time in Europe.

 | jejeje (0) 04/04/2008 | Stashed a couple cans in my suitcase before checkout from the Princess Riviera. Wish I had stashed a couple cases instead after I got home. Extremely refreshing!

 | SVTRIDER (0) 06/02/2007 | I've tried many high rating beers; while some are good, Modelo Especial has always been my favorite. I prefer a bottle than a can, since it looks kinda fancy with that good looking gold foil. I might be wrong, but it's always been my idea that the brewery that produces Modelo Especial, uses the left overs, mess up batches, etc to create Corona. I like corona, but I will never add lemon to Modelo. It's just too good!..

 | ProjectKram (0) 10/19/2006 | This stuff is expensive here in Chicago (almost $27 for a 24 case) but if you can afford it, it's well worth the price. A unique flavor from all the other Mexican, or any beer in general, that I've ever tasted. It's become my favorite. Personally, I enjoy it in cans more.

 | tsscd (0) 12/24/2005 | Asked the waiter at a local Mexican restaurant and rather than just picking something familiar I asked him for his favorite. Without hesitation he suggested Modelo Especial, I should have left a bigger tip. Very refreshing, great taste, excellent with food.

 | magellan (153) 03/03/2005 | I really like Modelo Especial - it's a better hot weather beer than Corona as it tastes a little better. Especials are MUCH better in a bottle. I recently got a 12 pack on Safeway.com and missed the fact that I was ordering cans. Not nearly as good.
