Accurate. Cool under fire. Good stats in big games. But 'cmon- show me a QB who had more HOF help around him at all the offensive positions: WR, RB, and offensive line. Aikman was a damn good QB and should be on this list- but you could argue he had a better offensive line in his prime than Montana or Young. . .Give Troy a big four.

Yes he played on some great teams, but this guy was pinpoint accurate.

Absolutely one of the all time greats. You can't argue with 3 Superbowl rings. The professionalism he brought to the game every week was even more incredible in spite of the circus he was sometimes surrounded by. If Jerry Jones and Jimmy Johnson would have kept it together; he would have won 5 rings. A true warrior- if you were lucky enough to watch him every week; you would understand how valuable he was to the organization. Look out Hall of Fame-you will have a new inductee next year.

he could have won 5 rings if a owner could have keep his mouth shut and let jimmy do his job.

Quite overrated.

Strong arm, strong body, took a beating as a rookie, but perservered to become a strong team general.

Count the rings... he was the real deal.
stallion550 04/04/2004
Ya he had the o-line, Emmitt, and Michael, helping him but so what. He had the accuracy and arm strength that was just as good as any qb in the '90s.the 'boys offense was based primarily on Emmitt that's why he never lead the league in yardage or touchdowns. If it wasn't fot injuries he would be in the top 10 in stats.

3-0 in Super Bowls, enough said.

Wow - I don't know how you could possibly give a quarterback who has 3 superbowl rings a 1 or 2 star. I don't give him a 5 because there have been better quarterbacks on weaker teams...but hey this guy was part of a dynasty. What about Joe Montana - a contender for best quarterback ever but he had a great team as well - should that take anything away from him?
chrisk1177 03/18/2004
His greatness was because of what was around him. Most qb's in the NFL can win a few super bowls with the best ol, rb, and wr's in the game.

For the love of God, his national championship with OU? At that time they were running the wishbone, he was a freshman, and wanted to move him to a different position, thus the transfer to UCLA. Guy is very good, no question, but had one of the best o-lines ever to play the game, hall of fame RB, explosive WR's, and a great defense. People forget in his rookie year, it was Steve Walsh that won the lone game for the 'Boys in '89, not Aikman.

Troy Aikman is one of the best QBs in history and he was on the cowboys to bad his caree ended.
pabob 01/07/2004
You can't argue with three rings and pinpoint accuracy as a passer.
Casey53 01/06/2004
Three Super Bowls rings from the Cowboys, one National Championship ring with the Sooners. Great QB.
zuchinibut 12/24/2003
Won the big games, but Michael Irvin and Emmit Smith helped him out on offense, not to mention everybody the Cowboys had on their O-line. I don't think he would have thrived as well if he didn't have that type of talent surrounding him, but he was still a very good quarterback.
jamestkirk 12/03/2003
Aikman is a definite HOF QB who benefited from playing for teams with enormous talent in the early to mid-90s. That doesn't minimize the great QB he was with the Pokes. He made few mistakes, and he was one of the most accurate passers in the history of the NFL.
The Real Truth 11/21/2003
Troy was good. 3-0 in Super Bowls.
