Played a great role in both All in the Family and Heat of the Night. It was a pity his son ended up like he did.

Can you imagine anyone else playing Archie Bunker? O'Connor was, I believe, an accomplished stage actor, but really hit it big with All in the Family. You could sort of predict what his reaction would be to given situations, but never really knew exactly what kind of Bunkerism would come out of his mouth. Just a great actor.
