I was a bit of a wiseass myself. When you are fat and smart you had better develop a sense of humor. And because I did,I was liked in grade school, bullies seldom bothered me and 2 of my female classmates asked me point blank if I wanted to have sex with them.

I did my class clowning not through talk. But through action. Example: At school when it was a student's birthday, the teacher would bring out his/her cake for the class to observe. I would take out my clothes and sit on the cake. I did that over 20 times in my school career. Crazy me. Of course I got plenty of detention slips. ... Did I mention that when it came to poetry or Shakespeare, I always wore my dunce cap to class.

Class clowns are almost never funny. We laugh at them due to groupthink only. Class clown brand of humor on television wouldn't make a two-year-old giggle.

Class clowns really make things interesting at school. I know a couple of these guys, and they always spice things up in an otherwise sterile atmosphere. Most likely, the class clowns are the ones I'll remember fondly twenty years from now.

Iwas always the Class Clown and always gettin yelled at for being a smart ass. It only gave me character for the later years.

I loved the class clowns not necessarily the mean sarcastic ones (though I admit they had their moments especially when it came to school political commentary) but more often I got a kick out of the off beat guys with the long hair and torn jeans lingering in the back of the classroom making little remarks under their breath. That was just the kind of entertainment you needed to get you through all those dreadful hygiene and social skills films.

Most kids who were smart were the class clowns, they got bored easily and entertained themselves sometimes at the expense of others to keep their minds stimulated. The ones whose spontaneous minds were too much for teachers and their monotoned regurgitated teaching methods. They made me laugh, but their behaviour used to wane into annoyance sometimes.

Were always annoying...used to yell at them all the time for disrupting me...grrrr...

So there I was. Smart, at times a little shy, feeling a misfit like every other teenager (although I didn't understand that then), and a jock. Any wonder I was a class clown as well. And yeah, just to set your mind at ease, I was as nasty and sarcastic then as I am now. Why break a streak. I've probably got a little meaner with age though. Just ask ClassicTVFan.

Class clowns are great as long as you're not the target of their humor.

There's more than one kind... all are attention-seekers, but some are genuinely funny and attract you to them; others are malicious and make all their jokes at the expense of others. Avoid those.

Depends on how far they go and how they went about getting the attention they wanted: a few smart-ass remarks here and there weren't bad. Those who would pick on other people were a little more than nauseating and obnoxious, but ignorable.

Could be very funny but funny and disruptive.
