Had a couple of friends like this in school they would give you the shirt off their backs but are hard to hang out with because they act weird.

The Non-conformists who dyed their hair purple, had a pet lizard or refused to be victims of Nike Air's fashion. This is the eclectic mix of individuals that made school interesting and I liked the fact they refused to bow down to be the same as everyone else. Interesting personalities whose individuality alone was priceless.

Depends on your personal definition of 'weird' - if it was in a way that the person couldn't help, I would offer some kind of friendship, but acting weird just so others would think you were is pointless.

Weird is fine as long as you just like to dress differently or express your individuality. But when I was in high school, there was a guy who got arrested for molesting little boys and he always gave me the creeps.

A lot of them couldn't help it. I always admired the kids who DIDN'T pick on them, who accepted them for who they were. Not joining the mob takes strength of character.

That would be me.

I was typical/average and sometimes shy but there was nothing wrong with being weird, however these kids did not have many friends except for those who were like them.
