In many ways, Luxor represents the highpoint of the Egyptian New Kingdom period. Between Karnak and the tombs in the Valleys of the Kings and Queens, there is much to see here. The bottom line is that no trip to Egypt is really complete without a visit to the Luxor area.

Luxor is a great destinationfor anyone who has an interest in ancient history - you can touch it here!!! Don't fret about the terrorist incidents that have marred this places history and get there to experience the awesome temples and the short trip across the Nile to the Valleys of the Kings and Queens. The street beggars and traders are a pain in th rear but you can deal with them by being consistent in ignoring them! The best thing to do early in your visit is secure yourself a great taxi and horse and buggy driver for your entire stay. Thes people will give you the essential tours, get you to the sights, defend you from beggars, arrange boats to cross the Nile, steer you through any hazardous situation, get you to areas banned by the tourist police and generally make your vacation more stimulating and fun! It is VERY hot, (up to 120 degrees), so dring plenty of bottled water. And ensure that you only eat at reputable places or you will get the most incredible stomach problems. Make sure that you visit the Winter Palace Hotel for a surprisingly good value, romantic dinner overlooking the Nile, complete with wandering musicians who will serenade you as you dine. A great place with much history of its own! Visit Luxor - a place not to miss!
