This man wrote some powerful songs that have the potential to bring tears to even the toughest badass out there. Incredible!

This guy belongs higher up the list. One of the kings of the singer/songwriter scene of the early 70's.

One of the best ever. very folksy at times his many of his songs had the most clever and catchiest lyrics. Maybe not that much for singing, but the way he sang the songs was great.

Another master of the soft rock genre.

Solid, unpretentious, likeable singer/songwriter. Although some of his music was indeed soft rock, it even has, from time to time some affinities with the acoustic work of, say, Springsteen. That's not to say that Croce was as good as Sprinsteen: he wasn't. But the lyrical concerns at times were. Unfortunately, the plane crash happened so long ago (73) that he's almost in danger of becoming an unknown name to the public, except to music buffs and baby boomers. Good stuff.

Great musical and performing talent, I was at one of his last concerts, in Niagara Falls, NY just a month before his plane crashed. Mimi Farina (Joan Baez's sister) was the warm up act. Croce and Maury Meushelson (sp?) played for over two hours and I never laughed so hard at a concert. For some reason, I remember they played Okie from Muskogee and I had never heard before (nor since) some of the lyrics I heard that night. He was just getting established at the time nationally (we each received his album Life and Times as we walked in to the concert hall, I still have mine, though I never play it anymore) and he died just before finishing work on his last album (the title escapes me, but I have it still, also) . I see that many have people rated him a 1, too bad. Listen to some of his album stuff like One Less Set of Footsteps and New York's Not My Home. If you like acoustic folk music, it's hard to find better.

A real musician. Unfortunately, they don't make 'em like this anymore. Wrote the songs, played the guitar and sang with a very unique, folksy, down to earth voice. No over producing here.

Jim Croce was an unbelievable poet that had the gift of music too. I'd compare his verse against the likes of Jim Morrison and Bob Dylan anyday, making himself the romantic of the group with songs like "Time in a Bottle" and "I'll have to say I love you in a song" which still nearly bring me to tears every time I hear them. Jim died tragically in an airplane crash and never got to mature as an artist, but what he did leave us was a legacy that will never be forgotten. I know millions more will redicover his talent as they explore the roots of rock and roll and folk music.

A fantastic musician who died way too soon. Croce's music is very relaxing and runs the gamut of fun songs like Bad Bad Leroy Brown and Workin at the Car Wash Blues all the way to heartfelt classics like Time in a Bottle and Operator.

Croce was a very intelligent and talented individual. Another on the long list of great entertainers gone far before their time. Jug

He had a very unique sound but I wasn't his biggest fan during his lifetime. Oddly, his tunes grew on me over the many years since his untimely death. So much so that now I find that the words to many of his songs are a permanent part of my music memory bank.

He will always be one of the legends of his time. He was an excellent musician. I wish him the best.

A beautiful voice and lot of wonderful songs: "Operator," "Alabama Rain," "Time in a Bottle"... Something good to relax to. Pick up a greatest hits if you get the chance. We miss you, Jim!

I liked Jim Croce I think i would really give him about a 4.5. He had a lot of good songs. I especially liked Time in a Bottle. and BadBad Leroy Brown was good. He died way too soon. I wonder what other wonderful songs he could have sung if he had lived.
