It's either the Pistols's Bullocks album or this Clash album or Give 'Em Enough Rope. These are the albums that define punk.

A punk classic. The music is played fast and with precision; a great record

If you like music raw, amateurishly played and unmelodic this fits the bill nicely. Not a patch on the massively superior 'London's calling'.

Although the album is brilliant I dont think its the best. It doesnt really give you a variety of music its just punk. If your into thepunk music this is your best bet if you want a punky album.

"I Fought the Law" is a great piece of commentary. "Police and Thieves" is awesome as well. The Clash are definitely one of the top 15 bands in history. Their music meant so much and this album was the self-titled debut of (at the time) "the only band that matters (mattered)."

This album is what punk is about! Joe Strummer and Mick Jones combined writing made this one of the alltime great albums.

One of the all-time most explosive rock moments. This didn't get released in the U.S. until two yrs after the UK original. I've heard that the mix on the UK version is superior, but at least the US version also includes sides from essential 77/78 singles like "White Man in Hammersmith Palais". This is bracing punk music with (on several tracks) a sharp reggae bite and working class vocals that howl like revolutionaries. There's not a bad track in the bunch. Any band that can cover both Bobby Fuller's garage rock classic "I Fought the Law" and Junior Marvin's reggae masterpiece "Police and Thieves" and blow away the originals on both counts is something special to behold.
