Either cheating in exams, or plagiarism is a negative, weak show, poor sign of intelligence capacity, and very naive. What about spoofy certificates?. Shame. What about copying some body's work of art?. Still a shame, and more naive. Just like what Enkidu says here, I cannot tolerate somebody stealing my ideas, and use them as his, and to go show off himself with the dreams that came not from his mind but mine. There is a potential huge debt, and controversial more debts awaiting, and this is gonna be a bloody war ever fought on this planet. Very serious hot beans.

I had no mercy on cheaters. There is no excuse for this appalling behavior. Cheaters deserve ZEROS which is what they got in my classes, and if they flunked and lost their scholarships, TOUGH.

OK, kiddies--here's some advice from the other side. 1) If you think you can think you can just copy and paste from the internet, think twice. We "out-of-touch" academics can google just as well as you can. In fact, some of us make it a point of googling phrases from our students' papers in order to catch plagiarism and have lo and behold caught it right there. 2) There is an abundance of software for detecting plagiarism as well 3) Nor is copying from books/journals much better. Remember, many of us have been in school for more than 20 years and we've studied the stuff: otherwise, no passing our doctoral exams! Not to mention that we're usually up on our reading in our efforts to publish. So there's more than a slight chance that we might just know your source. Let me recount an amusing story of an Oxford undergraduate who went to his tutorial with his plagiarized essay, proceeded to read it aloud (as is customary at these tutorials) only to have his professor fish the book out from the bookshelves and read it along with him. Yikes! 4) Essay mills don't do any good--especially if your instructor assigns several topics and your essay covers none of them. And, remember, most of the essays aren't even all that good in the first place. They're usually generic, one-size-fits-all barely adequate descriptions of plot and character. I know because I once downloaded at least 10 essays on Jane Austen just to see what they were like. There was not one that I would even give more than a C+ 5) It's of course possible that no one will catch it. But the consequences are pretty dire if you do get caught. Many departments have no-excuse policies that will fail you even if the essay/exam in question is only 1/4 of your grade in that class. 6) It's hard to get rid of that stigma once it's on your record. No one will forget it.

If you do decide to cheat, please be very good at it. Remember, the professors were in your shoes at one time so they know the tricks. My advice is DON'T. It will be much easier to justify an F that justifying cheating!!!

Don't cheat, you really don't win by doing this, especially on term papers. Professors have computer programs that can spot plagarism instantly. Besides, it's totally obvious when a student cut and pasted a paper from the internet. It's the oldest trick in the book and all professors spot this on a dime. In all my classes total last semester, I know of 15 people who were caught cheating. They flunked the course and they got a bad note on their academic record which will cause them to lose any chance of getting into grad school or law school. Cheating is a high risk, low gain crime. Don't do it, it's not worth it. Just do your best and it'll turn out for the best.

Don't cheat!! If you have to cheat then you obviously cannot handle college level work.

I don't have much sympathy for cheaters who get caught. However, I find it hilarious when someone cheats off someone's paper who is even more clueless than the first person.

This is something that universities take VERY seriously. Academic dishonesty is worse than almost anything you can do on campus. If caught, you WILL receive a grade of zero and flunk the course. You may also be thrown out of school. Don't take the chance. A D in a course is crappy, but it could be much worse.

As far as I'm concerned students who cheat on exams and papers should not only receive a 0 but should face a disciplinary board and possible expulsion.

Don't, never cheat on an exam or a term paper, it's one of the worse things you can do in college. You can study for hours and hours come in to take the exam and you freeze or something happens. Best bet is to answer what you know or turn in an incompleted test. If you cheat, then you aren't taking the test, you aren't providing the answers and that shows a lack of character. You are in college now courses are and will get harder and if the exam is over a subject that you are majoring in then you will have to learn it. As for cheating on term papers, that may be worse. Develope and write your OWN paper, you will feel better about it. Whatever you do never ever plagazerize.
