This is something that needed doing at English Football matches LONG before 9/11.

Discreetly maybe not to make people panic, but realistically this is absolutely pointless as you have more chances of being killed crossing the road than you do being blown up by a terrorist. In the UK we've been on high "terrorist - crucial" alert since 9/11 and where did that get us? You only have to look at 7/7 and 21/7 a few years later to see that these slimeball idiots are going to find other ways to do what they do to make their dumb points. What we need to do is to start pulling our men back from Iraq, this is no longer a joke.

Nah this will just make people panic An attack has not happened yet on a football stadium so it is not nessecary to spend million/billions on increasing security around every event with a large amount of people.

Absolutely. As BIGBABY pointed out, terrorists are apt to target events with large amounts of people. Any location or event that is a possible terrorist target needs to be protected at all costs.
BIGBABY 03/01/2003
Terrorists target two types of targets: symbolic items of the country, and places with loads of people. The more likely terrorist attack today is no longer from missiles or from planes. They are from people acting as suicide bombers. Increasing security and security systems would catch people with any explosives or shoe bombs, stuff like that.

Well, as of this writing, it has been a year since the 9/11 attacks. Obviously, there have been changes in the ways Americans conduct their lives. People have changed their habits in many ways, one of them is being more cautious of suspicious activity in public areas. The government can only do so much to protect us. It is our job to watch for potential terrorist activities. In all reality, we have been living with this threat for many years, the only thing is that 9/11 was such a dramatic event that it caused us to wake up from our slumber. We have been subject to terrorist attack at home and abroad, but never at the level of 9/11. Western Europe and Israel have had to live with the threat for many years. Thank God that the United States is not as vulnerable as they are, where because of their geographic proximity, the Europeans and the Israelis are more vulnerable to attack. We live in our own little pocket here in North America. This is changing though; as globalization makes the world a much smaller place, it makes us much more vulnerable to those who seek us harm. We must remain vigilant, preventing another terrorist attack should be the main goal of all American's. 9/11 was an attack on our democratic ideals, we must not let them win the fight.

It will reassure people that they are safe when they go to an event to be entertained.

Of course! Sporting events and concerts are large crowds of innocent people who are there to enjoy themselves and have a good time. Terrorism and mass destruction is the last thing on their minds, although in light of the 9/11 tragedies, methinks people are a bit less carefree than they once were. All those people packed into venues such as Shea Stadium or Ralph Wilson Stadium in Buffalo or Madison Square Garden would be sitting ducks for terrorists who could conceivably commit such an act of violence if they put their minds to it.

Exactly how much security do we want to have at these entertainment events?! Guards armed with automatic rifles surrounding the field/stage, prepared to shoot anything that moves, musicians/players airlifted to safety after concert (or, well, maybe airlifting is the wrong idea), ban all alchohol, ban Arabs from entering, cover stadiums in bullet proof marterial, etc.? It would really get out of hand! No more security, except maybe a little more at airports, is needed.

As a former firefighter I have known of several instances where bomb threats at major sports events went unannounced and ignored... this will result in many thousands of deaths in the future if it is not taken very seriously and a much tighter security surrounding any major event in the future!

useless

What will this do? Honestly how will this help prevent this from happening again. I have no clue. I can't even say anymore this is so stupid. This has got to be the worst thing on this list. If anyone can give me a reason why this would help feel free to leave me a personal message. My heart goes out to the victims, their families, and the rescuers. NEVER LOSE HOPE!!!
