I don't know that I've ever had a sexual partner that I would have described as a familiar lover. It sounds like just one of the many people with whom you have sex: like your partner, your familiar lovers, perfect strangers, your 7th grade teacher, the pizza delivery guy. Actually none of the strangers were perfect.

Yeah, because in my experience, if you ever got to the familiar point, the sex was always good. It shouldn't be a familiar lover if the sex is bad, ya know? I've never been married or anything, so I can't speak about a familiar lover after like 15 years or something. But who better to get down with than somebody who shares your rhythm? Somebody that knows what you like, exactly when you like it? And you them? Somebody who has no awkwardness or inhibitions. They know you. You know them. Let's get graphic. Plus, if it's somebody familiar, you can actually talk comfortably and openly. Like, hey, let's do this or that. And they say, okay. Easy as that. But it's got to be a cool, wild girl in the first place. Because sometimes even a familiar lover poses a risk in bringing up certain ideas.

This one is way overrated. My perspective: the problem (at least mine) is that after I've slept with just about any woman 3 or 4 times I get bored and am ready to (physically) move on to the next one. Doesn't matter what she looks like, how she behaves or who she is ... the repetition kills it. Anytime I've been with a woman for more than 6 months the physical aspect of the relationship becomes a chore that I commonly like to avoid. I would rather be in the sack with 3 5s over a period of three months than 1 10. It's always (unfortunately) been like this for me and there is no sign that it will change anytime soon.

Well, it's certainly more than a little pleasure in life . . . settling down from the initial fun stage of sex (getting to know your partner, trying new things every day) to a more relaxed phase is comforting . . . not that it hurts to revert back to the fun stage once in a while ; ).

Sex is a practice that has been around ever since humans came to be. The oldest form of pleasure. It is, in my opinion, the greatest pleasure when you are with someone you love and care about deeply.
