When I was growing up, Lucas McCain was my hero. He was a man's man, rugged and always in the right; no one could out gun him, or out fight him. I lived for the moment in the show where he fired that rifle; it was great! They don't make shows like this anymore!

Top notch western in spite of the obvious low-budget nature of the show. The show always built to a climax where Lucas would gun-down the bad guys with that cool rifle. Great kiddie-fare but a bit high on the body count.

Some of the scripts have the best dialogue I've seen on TV between a father and son. Lucas teaches Mark respect for the law in a time when lawlessness reigns, and Mark has a tender, sincere, and unwavering respect for his father. Lucas is a moral man who loves goodness and wants more than anything to bring his son up right, which makes some characters on the show hate him. A wonderful series from which to teach basic moral lessons to children, done with superb script writing in some episodes. You can't find this on TV today.

Well the first year was quite good. They also had plans to do 1 hour shows in color which would have been a improvement. The show seems to be pretty low budget but I still enjoy it. I thought here was a tough guy (and he was in real life), that showed a lot of feeling towards his son. At least the son also showed respect towards his father, something we seldom see on tv today. If I had kids I'd much perfer they watch this show then any else on tv today.

Chuck Connors played a single parent, in this oater, with a trick rifle. He helped to local marshal deal with the varlets and varmits who seemed to abound in that small town in New Mexico.

I always enjoy watching re-runs of The Rifleman....Maybe not the best TV Western series around, but good entertainment and a great theme tune.

Vapid, uninteresting western garbage. Chuck Conners is so bad he couldn't act drunk if he finished off a gallon of Jack Daniels.

Pure cheese, nuff said.

Pretty boring show for a shoot 'em up. Chuck Connors had that greasy haired sleazy look to him that evidently went over big with the heavily-closeted homo set of the Eisenhower era. When I watch reruns of this show, I can't help but think of Connors as serving as someone's fist puppet.

had a nice combination of action, family values, and that cool rifle.

Hi The Rifleman Was A TV Western That Pulled At Your Heart Strings! Lucas And Mark Were A Team When it Came To Father And Son...But How Many Times Did That Rifle Fire At The Front of The Show???

Great series, good stories and the interaction between Johnny Horton and Chuck Conners was very good, I can't believe that people rated Leave it to Beaver above this show, PLEASE!

Always enjoyable and stands the test of time astonishingly well. Far and away Chuck Connors' greatest role.
