One of the best shows of all time.
Spike65 04/19/2008
The best war docudrama ever made. Don't see how they could ever top this series. I only have one small quibble and that is the shaky camera in the action scenes. Makes it a bit hard to watch. Everything about the show seemed absolutely real, even the sound effects.
Mondurloe 06/30/2007
If you like war movies such as Saving Private Ryan or We Were Soldiers, then you'll be very pleased with Band of Brothers. It still airs on the History Channel, but it should be available at your local movie retailer.
chicagoman 05/02/2007
Best World War 2 series. so well done you really get attached to watching it.
brn2ovrcm 05/02/2007
This was (without a doubt) one of the best war movie portrayals of all time.It featured a multifaceted view of many personalities, some Brave, some cowardly. The movie travels deep into the heart of what a real man feels and acts in the midst of major chaos. It shows the response to men with real leadership qualities as well as men who really didn't have a clue at all as to how to be a top notch leader.A real leader leads through tough and challenging situations as well as situations that are not. They earn the respect of their contemporaries because the good leaders model what is expected of them. They encourage their men,not discourage them. The format of this series of films depicted so well the characteristics of leadership, that a local Pastor in the little city of Chico,CA. used the theme to create leadership qualities in the men of our local church body. And guess what, some changes in our lives as role models to our families and our communities has brought us men together to share with each other,to "have somebody's back",to communicate our thoughts with someone with whom we trust.

By far the best movie/ series ever put on film regarding WW2. It is a shame that the spirit illustrated in this great and factual account is dying in our nation today.
Ben999 02/13/2007
I love this series. It is very historically accurate. I only wish they had made more episodes.
Goulet12 09/11/2006
I can not get enough of this extremely fantastic movie. I think the idea of making this movie from Easy Company, 101st Airborne, was brilliant. The Music was fantastic, the actors were perfect, and the historical acuuracy, was very true. If i had to watch it again and agina, i would and i also would like to take the tour in europe, that is based on this move. Five Stars!!!!!! Way to go!!!
cunundrumpw 11/09/2005
Great miniseries that depicts Easy Company, part of the 506th regiment of the 101st airborn division. Lots of action and heroic sacrifices make this miniseries a must-see!
jrlk2005 06/17/2005
This is the best dipiction of a true Airborn rifle company at it's best. The sacrifices that all of are men in world war II made is shown in the best of movie making. It sends you though a emotional roller coaster about are history, and are freedom gained by these young men.DANEYW, you don't deserve to live in a society of freedom that was gained by the sacrifies of young men when you call them Bastards.

I love how real everything is!
Temujin 05/01/2005
As the son of a WWII veteran, this series gave me more of a sense of what my father went through than all the John Wayne war movies combined. The characters are all real; all peoiple we know or could know. Especially well done was the camerawork, which has a gritty, slightly grainy look, right out of the Saving Private Ryan playbook. Band of Brothers, Private Ryan, and Das Boot, a German film about submarine warfare are trhe best war movies ever made.
samjung23 04/13/2005
Honest, great and touching show. A better version of Private Ryan, despite the fact the same people behind that made this. Definitely the most realistic and patriotic work to date. More productions like this should be made.
Ivana7 03/14/2005
As a descendant of WWII participants I can say this seria represents most closely and realistically war and horror of it to such a distant time as our is. Not made as pathetic story or ode made to glorify leaders, not just war action movie, not just story about history, battles or generals. This is story about humans in such unhuman time. That can I say remembering the war stories my grandmother used to talk to me years ago. She was medic in WWII and got to the end of it as captain. And from stories about some other people from my family that finished their lifes in combat or camps. To her and to all the soldiers and especially civilians who had to became soldiers. They all gave the tribute and because they are all heroes, we have to remember. Anyway, we celebrate this year 60 years of Victory in a war that last for 6 years and 1 day, with more then 60 milion casualties. Bravo for Hanks/Spielberg war-movie school and brilliant and well trained actors (if you saw how the show was made, you know what I`m writing about). Ivana, Serbia, Europe.
Byrdiohead 01/07/2005
The direction and acting in this series are what I truly long for in television. Enough with the cheesy, boring sitcoms that try to be just like older and funnier versions of themselves, give me more intelligent and exciting drama like Band of Brothers.
Wavebacker 12/20/2004
Excellent follow-up to Saving Private Ryan. A compelling series to watch that really seemed to capture what it meant to be in WWII, much more so than any TV series before it and as good as , if not better than any movie, except Saving Private Ryan. Great action and great drama. This and Black Hawk Down will no doubt be used as examples of how to do dramatic action war movies in the future....Along with, of course, Saving Private Ryan.
Misha Pavlovic 11/23/2004
the greatest war movie(or TV serie,if you wish)EVER made!!!!! Im watched that masterpiece 27 times!!! Best wishes to all people in this project and all living members from Easy Co. from Misha-Serbia-Europe.
GypsyPrincess 10/06/2004
Excellent, it was a little hard for me to watch, but my husband (a Marine) made me watch it & I actually liked it. There just isn't enough on tv that shows what people give up for America! Great acting, directing, writing, everything!
warlordchampio n 09/30/2004
The best series ever made period.
WarGamefan93 09/16/2004
Great T.V series. Everybody was superb. Put a stamp on DANEYW and send him to loserville. This movie was almost hard to watch too.
Screamingiggle 08/26/2004
A fitting tribute to the men of Easy Company!!! A true masterpiece!!!! DANEYW....YOU ARE A RETARD!!!!!
Jo Barnes 08/06/2004
Great performances, compelling stories, touching.
The_Drizzle 07/31/2004
Although it's rather a mini-series, Band of Brothers is a very well made, solidily acted, and realistic account of the 101st Airborne Rangers of Easy Company and their story from boot camp all the way to D-Day, the Battle of the Bulge, and finally, the connclusion of World War II.
louiethe20th 06/19/2004
Spielberg and Hanks, what a duo! I have not seen the whole thing, but it looks great!

Very well done mini series. This is easily the best WW2 mini-series ever made. I have the set and it is the best $100 I have ever spent on myself!

Band of Bastards.
SFShuggies 06/30/2003
This movie series was a very good introspective story that told about all of the elite para-troopers from Easy Company 101 Airborne. This was the best damn WW2 movie i have ever seen and i ever WILL see. I wish more people would see this movie series to realize what heroes those men that fought in WW2 were and are. I certainly will never forget those who died so we could drink from the Cup OF Liberty. Col. Winters is what i call a LEADER, and IF i could rate it higher i would. CURAHEE!
Ekkard 06/03/2003
Yes, a great looking, dramatic and stunning look at war in europe. Everybody who gave his life to save europe from fascism is a hero to me. So far so good, now some problems: The germans do not exist in this movie series. They do not suffer, do not have any personality like in most hollywood war movies for fifty years now. Something else for U.S. watchers: WW2 was almost over when these events took place. The decision about the war was taken in Stalingrad and The Battle of Britain, I guess, years earlier. Still the war was won by U.S. arms given to their allies. The perspective of this show is very limited and if you are interested in war through german eyes, watch "Stalingrad" by Joseph Vilsmaier or "Cross of Iron" by Sam Peckinpah. ebaeuerle@hotmail.de
bandofbrothers llllll 04/07/2003
Band of Brothers is a very sentimental and heart felt series. All the actors portrayed the real easy company perfectly and they brought back world war two for the people of today to always remember and i think the show was and will always be a reminder of remembrance. Band of Brothers is a piece of history.
smgellarfan200 3 03/25/2003
all i can say is - BRILLIANT TELEVISION.
Mike1971 03/08/2003
A milestone in television. This series completely captured Stephen Ambrose's book and did absolute justice to the heroes that participated in the "Day of Days" and the rest of the campaign. For me the best episode is the second one, but the whole series can be described using a whole dictionary of superlatives: awesome, honest, useful, and inforgetable to name just four. I'm going to watch it again right now.
green_shift 03/05/2003
I have to say truthfully, this is the best I have ever seen. I am enchanted by this series and the story it tells. The battle scenes are so real it feels almost like I'm really there with the characters as they are battling for their lives and country. Many a time I found myself yelling at the TV as the soldiers dashed about the screen and almost crying at others where the soldiers were wounded or killed. The movie was wonderfully made, all of the actors did fantastic jobs, and all of the special effects are top notch. I will never forget the story of Easy Company and what they did for us. I would have to tell anyone who has not yet seen this to go see it as soon as they can.
BIGBABY 02/28/2003
Band of Brothers was the best series I've seen. The action was superb, and so was the acting. I recorded most of the episodes. Whoever made this show is a terrific director. I'll never forget this remembering series; it displayed the true character of a soldier.
ryanbracken 02/24/2003
best war series ever. this is the closest true to life movie that you can get. some of the comments made were "Saving Private Ryan was good and this show is based on it" SPR has nothing to do with band of brothers. the soldiers in SPR were army rangers. the soldiers in BOB were paratroopers. The only connection between the two are being American soldiers and being involved in Operation Overlord. The user also said that "war movies are dull". you think war movies are dull because you don't know anything about the war. if you don't know anything about WWII this series would be a little tough to follow. that's what is good about this movie, it doesn't stop to explain every little thing that happened in the war. Some other movies do this and it slows it down a lot. other comments were "the drama lacks action and a sense of humor". war has no humour in it. war and humour are two completely different subjects. the film has just enough humour in it to make it enjoyable.
Aurielle 02/11/2003
Amazing. Breathtaking. Memorable. What else can be said? I've been watching the DVDs over the past few days, and I'm positively mesmerized. The reality is so heart-wrenching that I'm on pins and needles in every battle scene. I find myself yelling, "Run, run!" at the screen and yelping "Ouch!" everytime a soldier gets shot. This is the most life-altering war story I've ever seen, and I will never, ever forget it, nor will I let my peers forget what a sacrifice those men made for us.

Technically excellent, Band of Brothers portrayed modern infantry combat in the nastiest possible way, a'la Saving Private Ryan and Black Hawk Down. I'm sure as hell not racing out to join the army after watching it. Being an US Film about the exploits of a US Paratroop company, I think it couldn't help but be biased. And it was in the historical interpretation that the series stumbled a bit for me, certain combats being transplanted from different times and theatres and so on. I thought that the British forces were portrayed in a somewhat undergenerous light - the German soldiers certainly were in some episodes. While my knowledge of Anglo-Canadian operations in Normandy is better than that of the US, the accounts I've read told of the Germans being rather tougher than often shown in Band of Brothers and not really prone to fleeing in droves after a bit of fighting, only to be all shot in the back by vengeful, victorious Americans. The British paratroopers rescued after the Arnhem disaster were more like stool pidgeons than soldiers. The real history should be remembered -that they did the lion's share of the fighting in that campaign and had struggled mightily against great odds - two SS Panzer Divisions, no less. British tankers would have been mindful of lessons like Villers Bocage before rushing in mindlessly to tackle a Tiger Tank. Those veteran Guardsmen would have first called for reinforcements and then would have tried to flank the German armour. Admittedly, some Australian war films possibly also portray their British Allies as a bunch of stumble bums, a bit unfairly. The authenticity of the uniforms and equipment was very good, I thought. The only fault was in the German SS uniforms - line SS units wore camoflauge pattern battle gear rather than the normal Wehrmacht field grey. Those are really the only gripes I had. Otherwise the series was really good. I particularly like the work done on restoring/building the tanks and other fighting vehicles.

How could you not rate this a 5? this is beautiful film making of a story of Easy Company. It was like i was there with them fighting with them.

It was fantastic, I want to see it all again

Yesterday i have watch the whole episode again and again. The movie already premiers on HBO in Malaysia last 2 years but i have no time to see.At last i just bought the DVD for Band Of Brothers. Oh my god. It was definately the best war movie ever.I would personally congratulate Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks and all the crew for producing and outstanding, meaningful mini series. My favourite hero is Sg.Bil garnierre, Lt.Harry and definately Lt. Spears. Who would have thought Lt. Spears is the one that saves the whole E Company member.
KllyLisaS 11/22/2002
The episodes were both good and bad in what was accurate. One would be branded a classic whilst the other would be a "Hollywood makeup job". Based on that observation, what I did not know would not be taught by "B.O.B.".
Gonzalo Camacho 04/09/2002
Esta de más por su trama y drama y accion y además fué una historia real
Matt Rerko 04/07/2002
Just the other day when I saw a part of the whole series, I was dissapointed. Really. But just after the second part I saw I began to love it. It's absolutely fantastic! I can't express with words how good it is - I would give 6 stars to it. Unforgetable. Together with 'Saving Private Ryan' and the game 'Medal of Honor' is Band of Brothers the best what you can see about the WW2. I can't imagine that someone could make it better. I rate it 6 stars out of 5 - unbeatable.
norelle 04/04/2002
yea buddy. now that was a good war series. you should read the book, i love war movies
irene_lvs_ep_1 3 02/22/2002
I only rated it 2 stars cause to me army movies are dull I just can't get into them but Saving Private Ryan was good and this show is based on it is what i've been told but I don't care to watch it!

A great piece of work. Outstanding performances all around. Unforgettable.

there's still a couple of episodes left, and yet i still want to see more!!!!!
Ian Woolger 12/02/2001
I have just finished watching the last episode of "Band Of Brothers" on BBC 2 here in England and I felt that I had to congratulate all those involved in the production of this stunning series. In the UK, some have compared it to "Saving Private Ryan", but I felt that whilst "SPR" was good, it was a "Hollywood" war film, wheras "BOB" was a story with heart, that showed the war from the side of the men who fought it, messrs Hanks and Spielberg took all that was good from "SPR" and refined it to produce the best war series I have ever seen. The emotional finale, where we saw the veterans and heard their final comments, finally putting names to faces was a triumph. If I never see another war story put to film, this series will remain an enduring memory. Which, after all is what we need: lest we forget those who paid the ultimate price for our freedom. Ian Woolger.
