I fail to see how this man is a role model today. He has simply become a merchandiser's tool to sell shoddy products and the occasional hot dog. He seems to have no problem promoting shoes made by children for pennies while he collects his millions.

If your ambition is to be a huckster for shoes made by slave labour, this is your guy. With few exceptions, athletes aren't the best choices for role models.

In general, I think sports, entertainment and politics are the wrong fields to search for role models. People are there for their giftedness in attributes which are far removed from morality and ethics.
