07/29/2007 | Even with its warts, the automobile is still a great means of transportation and definitely fits the American lifestyle. The advent of relatively inexpensive and reliable personal transportation has altered the way Americans think, opened the rural areas to more development and higher use, and allowed for unprecedented travel within and between the states. While we can still hope for better energy sources, the demand and value of the automobile will continue until much more of the country becomes more densely populated to make mass transit more economical and practical.

12/15/2005 | The automobile doesn't so much fit the American lifestyle as it actually helped to define it. I wonder what the country would be like without the advent of the automobile or something like it. I doubt I'd recognize it.

12/21/2003 | Pretty much part of basic reality here. I look forward to the day they are powered by renewable energy. That said, I love to drive, and a long windy road with lots of horses and lots of gears makes me deliriously happy.

12/21/2003 | Though I wish they could reduce the pollution a bit more, I love driving. Nothing like being at the wheel, windows down, radio turned up on a bright beautiful day on an otherwise empty highway.

12/14/2003 | Has become a necessity and made life easier while polluting the environment. There are so many different styles of cars that there is one to fit your needs and likes. The best transportating is walking- it's the healthiest, but many of us live in a city where a car has is a need. Cars have been a status symbol, it can tell how wealthy a person it is and it can tell something about their personality.

12/14/2003 | Functional. They have mutliple safety devices, including seatbelts and airbags. They also have recreational devices such as radios. The seats are typically comfortable. They can go slow and fast, and can carry passengers. However...they are currently polluting vechicles, must be completely manually operated and are fueled by a non-renewable resources. Cars are good...but could be so much more.
