 | VirileVagabond (32) 09/30/2004 | For those cities that have an extensive metro system (eg New York and Chicago), one doesn't even need a car, and the subway is tough to beat. For those cities that only have a rudimentary system, mass transit fails. Atlanta (for instance) has a poor subway system because it simply doesn't go most places that people need to go. If one must drive to get to the station, people tend to just drive where they want to go. Furthermore, the stations must be kept relatively clean and safe if the system is to be successful.
