 | SZinHonshu (44) 10/24/2005 | He should be tried in American courts. It would be a definitive power statement to the rest of the world. Especially the radical Islamics. They respect shows of force. Any attempt to show "tolerance" or "moderation" is interpreted as a sign of weakness in that part of the world. If you think I'm wrong, you do not understand the "street" in the Middle East.

 | CanadaSucks (45) 06/29/2005 | While I find the Iraqi war the biggest joke perpetuated on the American working class- it was our army that caught him. . .we should have a say in terms of trial conditions. . .it's not like we give a sh#t about Iraqi feelings anyway.

 | gmanod (3) 02/13/2005 | My God! It's difficult to believe that this is what Americans think of justice. This is not revenge, justice should never be about revenge. I think it would be a terrible idea for the Iraqi's to have the trial. Blood for blood does nothing, besides he doesn't deserve a quick shot to the head. Imagine in this country if you were to be tried for murder and they stacked the jury with the victim's families. The Iraqis are not capable of handling the trial according to what we have a learned as the concept of justice. Shame on you all for sacrificing our principles for those of a man like Sadamm Heussein. Summary execution...christ...and people wonder why some are cynical about people who wave flags and preach a devotion to this country when they would cast away its ideals for blood lust.

 | Sundiszno (30) 06/29/2004 | This would seem to be OBE at this point - looks like the Iraqis are going to try him. It will be interesting to see how long the trial will last, and what the ultimate verdict will be. Thetrial procedures and the verdict may give us some indication of just what we can expect in the future from the newly installed Iraqi government.

 | abichara (60) 02/09/2004 | The Iraqi's should get the first shot at Saddam. Most of his atrocities were committed against his people, so it's better that some closure be established before the country can move ahead into the future. He'll probably be executed at this point. But his survives there are other options. Of course, there is an equal case to be made for an international tribunal. Something has to be said about Saddam's invasion of Kuwait, where he literally walked off with billions of dollars worth of assets while the Iraqi's brutalized the Kuwaiti population. Not to mention his use of chemical and biological agents against the Iranians and the Kurds during the Iran-Iraq war. Saddam wasn't a very savory character; he should be charged to the full extent of the law.

 | jporterTN (0) 01/17/2004 | The crimes of Saddam Hussein are primarily against the Iraqi people, and thus he should be tried by them. I think moving his prosecution out of Iraq would be a mistake, and could send the message that the new Iraqi government is not strong enough or not competent enough to handle this trial. The sooner the Iraqi government establishes itself, the sooner American troops can get out of there, so we should be doing everything we can to help that government stand on its own. This would be a good beginning.

 | Enkidu (37) 12/23/2003 | Both. The Iraqis get first crack at him since they suffered the most and longest. If by some miracle he survives that, then he falls under the jurisdiction of the international tribunal for war crimes (invasion of Iran, invasion of Kuwait) and crimes against humanity (e.g. gassing of the Kurds). Precedent for international tribunals for those starting aggressive wars was established at Nuremberg and it works pretty well.

 | mikeholly93 (8) 12/23/2003 | The Iraquis should try Saddam themsleves. The evil monster persecuted them and tortured them and they should have their revenge on them.

 | RebelYell1861 (9) 12/20/2003 | The Iraqis should. Any international tribunal isn't necassary or relevant anyway.
