I voted for him and I am not proud of it. The only problem was that Jimmy the Joke (Carter) was running against him. Carter got millions of votes and I can't find anyone with the cojones to admit that he voted for that loser.

he was a wonderful man, and sadly will be missed. I watched his funeral and I send my condolences to the family.

He was in many respects a casualty of Nixon's sleaze.

Though hampered by a hostile congress (Democrats wouldn't work with him because he was a Republican, Republicans wouldn't work with him because he wasn't elected), Ford did nothing to stop the expanding government and help the failing economy. And he was weak at foreign policy. Our position on the world stage was visibly weakened under Ford. A good man, a terrible president. Ford is probably one of the five or six worst presidents in U.S. history. I think most historians rank Ford properly. He isn't overrated or underrated.

He basically didn't seem to accomplish much. I'm sure he is a good man and decent, but he's also a bit of a boob. It's unfortunate that people tended to focus on his complete lack of coordination, because that's kind of petty and childish. Maybe he had strengths in other areas, areas that didn't involve negotiating doorways or stairs, or any hard physical objects really.
