 | VirileVagabond (32) 09/03/2004 | The explosion in Atlanta evidenced the continued politicalization of the Olympics and the loss of sacred cows. While fortunately the loss and damage was much less than it could have been, the potential and intent make this one of the more appalling moments in Olympic history.

 | reeny (3) 05/13/2003 | People usually attend the Olympics with the general notion that they will be safe. When terrible incidents like this happen, it undermines that feeling of security people have. Politics or personal beliefs should be left at home and not brought to a peaceful competition like the Olympics. The authorities still haven't found the guy that was responsible, I hope they catch this worthless scumbag and bring him to justice. Innocent lives were lost just like in Munich, in 1972.

 | kamylienne (77) 05/13/2003 | (Again, I'm rating this based on how appalling it was, not because I liked it) Why do people bring in all these politics to the Olympics? It's about sports, for crying out loud. It may not be as bad as what happened in Munich, but it's still pretty bad.

 | Jason1972 (3) 11/04/2002 | It could've been worse, but thank God it didn't, not compared to the Munich tragedy. It's too bad that the bomber is still at large.

 | magellan (153) 02/21/2002 | I was in Atlanta for the Games, and I remember being at a bar when the news came on the TV that Centennial Park had been bombed. When the news first broke, nobody really knew what was going on, and it was terrifying. I was supposed to have been meeting friends at Centennial Park that evening, and the fear of not knowing if they were all right was awful. I just remember thinking 'why would someone want to do this?' The fact that nobody was killed makes it less appalling than Munich, but my thoughts on the subject remain the same. I don't care if you are a domestic or an international terrorist or a domestic or international government - keep your freaking politics out of the Olympics.

 | TheFreak (3) 02/21/2002 | I can remember exactly where I was (at home in GA) and what I was doing (eating breakfast) when I heard about Centennial Park being bombed. I had been there earlier to watch some Olympic events, and my nine-year old mind did not understand why somebody would want to destroy such a cool place. I don't know how many people were injured...I didn't much care. The fact that someone (Eric Rudolph) would want to bomb CP was the only thing that mattered to me (remember, I was nine). While I realize that a great number of people were not affected at all by this event the people of Georgia were, and that is one detail of my unexciting life that I will remember for a long time. You should have seen the headline in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution! Take care, everyone!

 | Jaws (10) 02/21/2002 | Someone was killed in that explosion. It ranks up there with the Israeli athlets being killed in Munich.
