08/08/2004 | Pears are one of my favorite fruits. I've never liked apples, and pears have always been the perfect compromise to it. Unfortunately, there are quite a few bad pears out there, not to mention that they ripen slowly. Once you wait until the pear is soft and juicy, yet still somewhat firm, the sweetness and just slightly gritty texture is incredible. A welcome relief to the hard crunch and dull sweetness of apples. Pears are also one of the few fruits that hold up well when canned. Delicious.

09/10/2001 | Yes, it's the apple's poorer cousin, the pear! I don't care much for these things... similar to an apple, they aren't nearly as good in taste, though some may prefer these since they're sweeter and juicier. As for me, besides not tasting so great, they're awfully stringy little buggers... meh, I could live without pears easily.

09/10/2001 | They sit so heavily in my stomach and can become overripe very quickly. I love the taste, though, and check out those pear-flavored "Jelly Belly" jelly beans.

09/10/2001 | Pears are very sweet and very juice but this makes them sticky and so they're not exactly the most packable fruit. They easily get bump from harsh treatment. I love canned pears and like pears in general, but my mouth just gets all itchy that it's hard to enjoy them.
