If I remember it right, kiwi is one of the fruits that contains the highest vitamin C in the fruit group. However, it's also quite acidic and I can't eat them with empty stomach. I love the flavour a lot but I do find it slightly hard to get into and can be messy. Also all that amount of work doesn't ever get me enough of it to be satisfied. I think I can probably eat 10 of these at a time to feel satisfied.

Not so good when too ripe. It gets really squishy and sugary. You want it to be firm, but soft when gently squeezed. then you can cut it in half and use a sharp spoon to scoop out each half. Perfect way to eat it! And sooo pretty when sliced and placed on cake, next to pancakes, etc. I actually prefer it to be on the sour side - all that vit c must be so good for the skin.

I just had three of these at lunch. Delicious, although slightly inconvenient to extricate from the skin.

good texture and flavor and those furry little buggers are cute as far as fruit goes.

they are the best

Packed with more vitamin C than an equivalent amount of orange, the bright green flesh of the kiwifruit speckled with tiny black seeds adds a dramatic tropical flair to any fruit salad.

Very good and good for diets.

A bit too sour and it packs a punch. If you have it with a tropical drink or fruit punch it's like the lemon you have on the side of your glass but it has attitude.
Mlle. Mewshka[[Thale iaMelpomene]] 09/06/2008
Kiwis have a disgusting aftertaste.
Kismet9428 09/06/2008

A good deal financially, a nutritional powerhouse, familiar yet unique flavor at the same time. Underated fruit i believe.

Kiwi's are excellent tasting. Sort of like a melon and strawberry taste together. High in pottasium also.
kamylienne 05/05/2005
(Kiwi. It's just kinda fun to say. Kiwi. Anyway . . . ) You wouldn't think that something brown and fuzzy would have a tart, green inside. Like the taste of 'em.
texasyankee 04/19/2005
Don't like this much, it has too many little seeds.
artzygal 04/12/2005
Too tasteless, and rather boring.. I loved them when I was young, because I thought they were exotic. Well, they are really only good with extras, like lime squeezed in then
Randyman 03/20/2005
I used to like these a while back. For some reason they don't taste quite as good to me anymore.
midwesterner19 10/07/2004
Undrrated fruit. Cheap (20 cents a piece) and healthy. I can eat five kiw'i at a time they are so good!!
Seraph 09/28/2004
Kiwis don't have the best taste, but they are fuzzy. How can you not like a fruit that grows hair?
tvtator 12/07/2003
A good fruit that is a mixture of sweetness and a little tartness. You can slice one up to eat alone, eat with strawberries or a mixed fruit salad.
Jason1972 10/29/2002
That skin is a task to peel off, but the green stuff is good.

I've only tasted kiwifruit a few times as they are a relatively new option at my local grocery store. But those who posted here before me were so kiwi positive I was inspired to look into this little fruit further. The California Kiwifruit Commission (www.kiwifruit.org) reports that kiwis actually have more vitamin C than an orange and more potassium than a banana. They also provide an excellent source of "phytonutrients like lutein, fiber, folate, magnesium and vitamin E". Great stuff for preventing, controlling and recovering from things like heart problems, cancer and high blood pressure. Nutritionally these little guys are quite a little concentrated powerhouse of all that is good about fruit. The few times I’ve eaten it I enjoyed the sweet and sour taste but didn’t really like peeling them. However the Kiwifruit Commission had a suggestion for that – just cut them in half, scoop and eat. Pretty simple and tasty way to get some excellent nutrition.

"Frank15" was right when he said that the kiwi is an underrated fruit. I was amazed to see it ranked next to last on this list. What's going on? Kiwis are the perfect balance of sweet and tart, and they have an interesting texture. Kiwis are just the right size for a single serving, they're easy to slice, and they really dress up a fruit salad. I know that kiwis are packed with vitamin C and lots of other nutrients. Finally, kiwis are not very expensive (as far as fresh fruit goes). The other day, I found golden kiwis at the store. They were a deep yellow color, and they tasted great. If you've closed your mind to kiwis, I ask you to reconsider!
Santander Summers 09/23/2001
very healthy - full of vitamins
Frank15 09/10/2001
These poor things are quite underrated, if you ask me. They have a great sweet taste, perhaps a little too sweet, but with some sourness to them too, but not much. Compared to many non-berry fruits, these are pretty easy to slice up. And the taste itself is unique... it doesn't really compare well to any other fruits out there.
