Its a good resolution, but you know, every now and then you just need a drink to unwind....

No, I think I'll commit to upgrading the quality of my intake though.

not a problem for me. I really do not drink alchoholic beverages. maybe a small one tonight to ring in the New Year. but not even very strong. about the extent of my "drinking" Now cutting down on Caffiene may be a good one for me. less coffee and sodas.

That didn't last very long.
CanadaSucks 12/29/2007
Bullsh#t. I want to drink more.

Last year I gave up drinking just before New Years and I stuck with it through the year. It's weird at first, I realized most of my good times involved alcohol, be it socialization, picnics, sporting events, whatever. But it's helped me to learn new things and begin to get a grip on reality I think, become a more spiritual and more helpful person.

Not being sold on the "health benefits" of drinking - all that red wine malarkey - I have to rate this resolution highly. Yes, this is a better resolution if you have an alcohol problem, but good even if you drink only occasionally. Maybe an occasional drink isn't too bad for you - I hope so as my frequent postings to beer related lists reveal my own alcohol consumption pattern - but it isn't good. I firmly beleive the more you love life the longer you should want it to be and the healthier your lifestyle should be. That would mean little or no alcohol, smoking, illegal drugs and any other self-destructive behavior.

For certain people obviously, but this would require that *I* drink. I don't drink as is, so no need to remind myself not to.

ha ha ha ha. what? give up me career?
AndrewScott 12/29/2004
Since I only drink moderately and responsibly, I have no puritan guilt here. Probably the better resolution for me is to have a heart-to-heart with a friend who continually regrets his behavior after over-indulging. I am not an enabler, but I could do more to support him being safe.

I drink very little anyway. My dad's an alcoholic and I've seen more than my fair share of all the misery he's went through. No thank you.
kamylienne 01/04/2004
I don't drink, so it's not an issue for me. However, I have to watch out for a few of my friends who seem to REALLY want to see me drunk.
Enkidu 12/28/2003
Nah. I think I'll drink a little MORE this year. More single-malt and limited bottlings too.
zuchinibut 12/26/2003
Maybe if i had a problem with drinking, but it hasn't ruined my life yet. I'll continue drikning in 2004.
kolby1973 12/25/2003
Life would get boring, and fast! And besides, I only get to drink like once every 2 months...
