could never get into this one...it's like the movie Groundhog Day for me and I didn't like that movie. I love Keifer Sutherland and Eric Balfour but just can't get into the show.

UPDATE: Well I finally watched three seasons or so and that is ENOUGH! This is appalling! The apparats of CTU stop presidential assassins, defuse nuclear bombs, off bioterrorists, twart any number of high tech mopes using sophisticated computers that enable CTU to follow baddies all over the planet. All of this is done in 24 hours!

I am glad I am 65 years old as this tripe exposes the government of the future that, I am afraid, is all too real. It shows a brutal, totalitarian, menacing and plain bad apparatus that we are building in our government. Yeah, the government is building it to stop terrorists, but it is also using it to to control and manipulate the average American slob, i. e., me and mine.

I hearken back to the late Samuel Francis and his coining of a new term "Anarcho-tyranny" that fits this program to a tee. The anarcho part of it applies to the way the government ignores the rampant crime in the streets, caused by drug dealers, people pouring over the border, thuggery and theivery in the big cities. The "tyranny" applies to all the numerous regulations, rules and laws that ensnare and apply to the rest of us. Think of all the stuff today that the government is using to trace, encode and curtail the law-abiding.

CTU operates out of LA, right? Who is more threatening to the average Angelino? Some murderous, burglar named Jose who snuck over the border and is robbing and raping at will? Or is it some terrorist named Anatoly or Mohammed who is going to set off a ricin bomb in the LA subway?

What is the federal answer to Jose? Nothing. We are spending all our time looking for Mohammed and Anatoly. Jose and his ilk are doing a lot more damage.

24 is the typical answer of the American elite. They are a bigger threat than any gaggle of spies in this country. They sacrifice us to political correctness. Remember how some airport flatfoot tried to take the Medal of Honor away from Joe Foss when he was boarding an airplane because it set off the metal detector? That is the tyranny part of anarcho-tyranny. ORIGINAL COMMENT: The only way you can watch this is to buy the dvd. I hate this type of show where if you miss an episode you don't know what is going on.

The first time around it was an interesting concept.

It got a little old in season two, and its positively senile now.

I’ve tried to catch on with this show a two separate occasions, but the way the writers have to stretch the credibility of the plotlines to such absurd extents made the show unwatchable for me. Too many time characters in the show make outrageous leaps across time and space to perform preposterous acts. I acknowledge that I don’t read or watch movies/TV to see reality, but there’s a the rubber band of suspension of disbelief and 24 snaps it – almost every episode.

A good show overall. I watched the first season on DVD. The storyline is original, excellent camerawork, excellent acting, and very suspenseful. Unfortunately, 24 has massive amounts of soap opera filler material irrevant to the main plot. I don't think watching the DVD is worth 18 hours of your time. Had it been shorten to 3 or 4 hours, it definetely would be.

Love the show. The cast is ever changing with people being killed off almost every week. Jack seems to be the only character that is safe since Kiefer Sutherland just signed a 4 year extension to continue the show.

Seasons tend to get slightly repetitive, but overall this is one of the best shows that television has to offer. If for nothing else, 24 offers Jack Bauer, the fictional main character who is one of the strongest leads of any series or film I've ever seen. His character is perfectly portrayed by Keifer Sutherland. The series is about how a patriotic government agent fights terrorists in the USA while struggling with his own personal issues. The moral dilemmas presented in the writing make it well-worth watching. This is easily one of my favorites.

This is no ordinary TV show...this is high quality television. 24 has gotten better and better each season and each episode is an edge-of-your-seat, intense thrill ride leaving you exhausted and wanting more. The acting from every cast member is top-notch and the music gets your blood pumping. The only question I have is: when does Jack Bauer actually get to eat something and go to the bathroom?

24 is definitely the best show on television right now!I'm a newbie watching 24 so I'm a bit lost in the whole timeline thing... So far I got the official magazine, which helped because they had a recap of the top moments, some explanations, an interview with Kiefer and the producers... I recommand this to other newbies like me if you need to get up to speed fast. Check it out here: www.expressmag.com/pages/products.asp?pr=1&id=224MAG Jasmine

Neo17_2005 Perhaps that long list of "reality" shows (GAWD!) is more to your tastes... Sit back, relax. "24" is a wild ride and a lot of engaging fun. You don't think too much watching reality shows, why do you do it watching something like "24"? Ever wonder how everyone gets around LA so quickly? All in the space of an hour episode? What about eating, bodily functions, sleep, by the 20th episode all characters butts have to be dragging, but they aren't... As I said, sit back relax... much as you would when watching a time travel type movie. It's not a documentary!

Oh gosh! '24' has to be the best show on television today. The cast (led by Kiefer Sutherland) and the acting are totally superb, and the storyline is relentlessly engrossing. Suffice to say, if anyone lived their lives 24 hours a day (in real time) as what is shown on '24', they most likely would have suffered a heart attack! Yet this show is consistent with even the most minute details. JUST AN AWESOME SHOW!!!

It's hard to find a series that grabs your attention quite like 24 does. Classic cliffhangers on the end of every episode that keeps you craving the next one. Vewry hard to sustain a format like this, where the action of a whole season is played out of one day in real time. Very unique concept, and very well executed.

I've just started watching 24 on DVD, and it is definitely one of the better TV shows from the last few years. The drama is more intense than practically anything else on network TV, and the production feels more like a major release movie, than a TV show.

I think I may be changing my opinion about FOX lately. While I still contend that most of their comedies are trully lousy; they have produced some quality drama in recent years. I recently bought seasons 1 and 2, and I can safely say that this is no exception. I could ramble endlessly about powerful acting and endless plot twists, but I think it is all best summed up in two words, DON'T BLINK!

While it is amazing that poor Jack Bauer can go a whole day and night without eating or sleeping or stopping for a restroom and always manages to foil the terrorist plot in exactly 24 hours, the concept is brilliant and the suspense is consistently thick. There are moments when the plots are suspect, and yet the writing is almost always fast paced and top notch.

I have avoided watching this simply because I did not want to get hooked on another TV drama. Because of some previews about the episode 2 weeks ago where Air Force One was forced to crash and because of the nature of my employment I watched it. I was impressed and I watched again this week. The show is well produced and very entertaining.

Terrorism (NSA just woke up) seems to be great for your entertainment dollar. I just like the concept. They may need to back off on the complicated plot lines (seriously, couldn't Jack have simply shoved a screwdriver in the guy's tire INSTEAD of staging a convenience store robbery? Guy would've taken 30 minutes changing the tire (an hour extra if he called AAA) and could have successfully detained him. Easy on the unreality, 24. Not that I want another reality show (God forbid!), just dial down the unreality and suspend my disbelief, don't go into elaborate schemes just to get ratings... You had us at hello, keep us there. I'll be watching.

Great Concept, but what happens in 24 hours is way to unrealistic. Also for the first three seasons it was able to maintain a non political stance. Now in Season 4 it is painting the liberal left as a bunch of pot smoking hippies. It is trying to say that the right is right and the left is wrong. The show has lost this viewer.

This is the first TV program that I have actively followed since the early days of X-Files. I first started season 3, and by the third or fourth episode I was so jazzed that I managed to sneak in a marathon viewing of the first two seasons during the two (annoying) breaks in season 3. I saw an ad for season 4 while watching football last week and got all goosebumpy. The best program in years.

24 is without a doubt the greatest tv show of recent years. it teams major plot twists, who would have guessed Nina was the baddie in the first series, with comic lines, most delivered by the dear departed Mason, and a real sense of realism. It shows the novice the workings of the US intelligence system and draws frightening parallels with our crazy world. Above all 24 entertains and provides some sexy guy watching at the same time. I personally can't wait for season 4 to hit uk tv.

I really like this show, and it made Keifer, who is so homely he is cute, stand out in my mind as an actor I will want to see in other things. That said, I saw very little of season 3, and have to admit I was getting tired of seeing Jack Bauer ALWAYS shouting at someone to 'drop the weapon', too much shouting this season kind of made me watch something else. Maybe I will catch it on DVD sometime.

I have never seen anything more cliche'd, predictable, or unrealistic. Jack Bauer's abilities make McGyver look like he has down syndrome- he can do EVERYTHING. The first 18 episodes NEVER have anything to do with the end, as the top villians change so much it doesn't matter. It's pretty much 18 episodes of red herrings and then finally, the real deal. For instance, the first 13 or 14 episodes of the first season, didn't matter- AT ALL. Not one bit. It's horrible. Horrible show for people will small, simple minds.

Easily one of the most overrated drams of all time. The style of the show is way too angst-ridden and uncreative to be enjoyable in the slightest. Also, the terrible style of storytelling leaves little to the audience's imagination and doesn't allow for creative plot progression. Also, the show overflows with objectionable content--from graphic violence, profanity, and sexual inneundo.

Unbelievable!!! This show has really changed the way I look at television. Jack Bauer is one of the most convincing television heroes I've ever seen. He's flawed and imperfect, but still he is the kind of hero that you can admire and root for. Kiefer Sutherland does a stellar portayal of him. The twists keep the audience's attention, and the only bad thing about the show is the 3 or 4 week breaks between episodes sometimes. The real-time aspect of the show is what truly captivates me. Definitely a marvelous piece of television.
