For a start, although it may not be in our backyard, we should still care for and love our neighbours. Although this wasn't related to us, it still got my ears up because there is always a posibility of these types of things spreading. I wouldn't be surprised that if there was a SARS ourbreak in America, people would automatically care!

Actually, this was a kind of tame disease if you think about it. I know about 800 people worldwide died from SARS, but the media made this illness out like it was the next coming of the bubonic plague.

A horrible event in 2003...it is so awful how so many have died because of this...and it is also a travesty that Toronto was given a bad image by this disease...let's hope and pray we don't see anymore SARS in 2004...

Probably not as serious as media hyped, but significant in the effect the panic had. Flights cancelled, hundreds of millions of tourist dollars lost, sales of filter masks through the roof.
