Roosevelt had settled down since he had appointed enough members of the court to rubber stamp his fascist corporate state ideas.

 | callitdowntheline75 (53) 08/01/2004 | Harlan Fiske Stone was one of the greatest Associate Justices ever. But as a Chief Justice, he often complicated the Court by insisting on arguing his point to no end, and infuriating his peers with his endless prodding and unbending personality. Stone severely lacked political skills. However, he had a brilliant judicial mind, rivaling the minds of other great Justices like Joseph Story's, Oliver Wendell Holmes's, John Marshall's and Charles Evans Hughes's. I give him 4 stars because he was such an outstanding Associate Justice. But as a Chief, he ranks merely under the greats (Marshall, Hughes, Warren, and Taney) and near greats (Taft, Rehnquist, and White).
