There's a good reason why someone came up with a neologism for him.

Another bender of truth for the benefit of the right wing. Hiding under "Christianity" he uses hate language and actions to attack anyone else, instead of honest debate. It is the characteristic of cowards to not deal honestly with your opponents, but instead use fear language and half truths taken out of context.

Great speech on Focus on the Family website. www.family.org Click on Daily Broadcasts and look for Recent Broadcasts on the right-hand side of page, for September 13th & 14th, 2007.

His name is spelled almost like where he belongs. Unfortunately, he's one of the Senators from my State. Hopefully not next year.
Anonomous 05/12/2006
He's a great leader who sticks to his principals.

Proof that "cracker ass crackers" don't all reside below the Mason Dixon line, this embarassing creature is way up the list of people who are, to note the name of a recent bestseller, really screwing up America
QueerPlanet 01/05/2006
In a word.... corrupt. Another representative of christianity.
soxfan 11/10/2005
As a politically conservative Catholic, I was outraged and embarassed by Rick's ludicrous belief that the Boston Archdiocese abuse scandals were caused by Liberal politicians and instituions that dominate the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Guy is clearly off his rocker. If I were a PA voter I would certainly not re-elect him next year.
JackCox 10/25/2005
Ignorant Moron who be booted out on his ass in 2006.
GOPmember76 07/23/2005
A lightning rod who speaks his mind. While I may not agree with his methodology, I agree usually in substance with what he says.
GenghisTheHun 07/13/2005
He'll do for the time being, but he is in trouble.

I think he must be gay the self loathing is palpable every time he speaks.
blueblitzkrieg 09/10/2004
Slimy, deeply closeted, homophoic A-hole. The fundie, fascist freaks love him.
bibliophile 07/30/2004
Santorum is physically attractive, too bad he comes off as an intolerant jerk.
rainer21 07/29/2004
he is truly the most self-righteous, arrogant, biggoted, prejudiced politician there is. although i strongly disagree with george w. bush, i can respect him. but as an american, and as a christian, which santorum claims to be, i have absolutely no respect for senator santorum.
abichara 07/17/2004
I find the junior Senator from Pennsylvania to be somewhat creepy. I particularly don't get his singular obsession with the gay marriage issue. Considering that the guy seems to be a rising star among GOP ranks, I think he merits some consideration. He seems to be one of these shallow social warriors more than anything else. Santorum should spend his time on issues that are of consequence to the American people, not some insignificant social issue that is not important in the broader scheme of things. Considering that he's a relative lightweight and tends to be more of a showhorse rather than a workhorse, this doesn't really surprise me. As for those who claim that he is a Machiavellian who just wants to be re-elected, I will say this much, he does really believe in what he says. Pennsylvania usually elects moderate Republicans to the Senate (Hugh Scott, John Heinz, Arlen Specter), not social warriors like Santorum. He's never been a good match for the state and Santorum realizes that the odds are against him in every race. He has lucked out in that he has had weak opponents in all of his past races. However, he has become a favorite of the religious right; indeed last year he was considered a contender in the race for Republican majority leader and may even be a candidate for the vice presidency come 2008 if he gets re-elected.
LoudKidB 07/03/2004
If Santorum is not something, it is a politician. Think about it, Politics is all about mastering opinion. Santorum says what he believes no matter what, which is why he has yet to land himself in a Santorum controversy. Everyone knows that when Rick speaks he is not bsing, hes is sincere, and a good Christian model of society.

FritzAllen 12/05/2003
Santorum recognizes the massive homosexual agenda to take over the U.S. in the name of the anti-Christ.
kingbaby 11/18/2003
This man is a disgrace to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. His conservative views are radical and out of date. And he is no longer worthy of our attention.
liamws 11/13/2003
this Monster would keep gays and lesbians in concentration camps if he could get away with it! The people of Pennsylvania ought to be ashamed to have this man as their U.S. Senator!
cfjohnsn 09/30/2003
I am from PA and will give him a 2 based on a few of the initiatives that he has voted for. That being said, I believe that he is a narrow-minded far-right wing person that uses religion as a weapon. There was/is a reason that our founding fathers wanted to keep a seperation of church and state. That reason was to discourage the religious fanatics from forcing their will and beliefs upon the rest of us and basically destroying democracy as we know it. A democracy is based on the principal that we not be persecuted for what we believe as long as it is legal in the eyes of the law, not God. Just about every state has a law that disallows persecution because of sexual orientation which makes his remark ignorant as well as incorrect. It is this type of belief that religion should guide us in politics and as a nation that also guides groups like the Taliban and Al Qaeda. It is also the reason that we developed this great country in the first place...to escape religious persecution.

Personally, I'm indifferent to Sen. Santorum because he has yet to say or do anything of consequence -- but he has recently become the darling of the Republicans and his name has shot to the top of this RateItAll list of American Politicians. So, although he may not be a great statesman, he has apparently mastered the art of politics better than most of his peers, and has discovered that homophobia plays very well in Middle America. This suggests that, for gays and lesbians, the United States may not be the ideal place to live at this moment in its history.
S.O.G.W.A.P. 09/13/2003
A good man.
kira0608 07/19/2003
Throw back to the 1800s. I'm from PA and would never vote for this homophobe.
Rosetta 07/18/2003
Santorum has the courage to say what most Americans think about homosexual deviancy.
God bless Santorum 07/11/2003
People who put Santorum in Hell for his views show the hate they harbor for anyone that doesn't agree with them.I believe that the practice of homosexuality is a mortal sin if it is practiced with a clear knowledge of its sinful nature.I myself have commited sins against the 6th commandment before I was married. I was given the grace by God to see this and have been able to repent with the Sacrament of Reconciliation. A true humble love for our Heavenly Father always leads to Truth.I see the sin of premarital sex, homosexual sex, pornography, masturbation, and adultery in marriage, among others sins against the flesh. I believe God gives us the gift and grace of loving all people, not just the ones who think the same way we do.We were all created to be with Him;just give your mind, heart, and will to Him. .He will work miracles! And someday maybe, the very person you once hated on earth, will be beside you in Heaven! Practice humility first, then you will have love! God bless you all!

You know, I have read every statement made about Rick Santorum here, and am suprised to see that EVERYONE has misinterpereted what Santorum actually said. Santorum didnt say he hated gays, nor did he say that being gay is just as bad as bigomy or poligamy. Rather, he said that if sticking ones penis up another's anus is legal, that bigomy, poligamy, and other illegal sex acts should be legal too. That doesnt sound like a homophobic statement to me, that sounds like a Libertarian statement, as if he doesnt care as to what people do behind closed doors. How people thought that that was a "homophobic" statement, I dont know. Anyways, he is a good politician. He lost a star due to that statement, the thought of man/woman being able to marry twice being legal is scary, considering that neither practice is at all healthy. But overall, he is respectable.
WellWellWell 07/01/2003
Ok, who is cheating to put this arf-head as the #1 US politician? Is this the best the country that gave us Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, and 2 Roosevelts can do? A third-rate hack, only interested in his own skin, and offending all but the moneybags in the process. You can do better than this, Pennsylvania.
Penny23 06/30/2003
Seeing Santorum at the top of this list means the Freeps and Creeps have found this site and are trying to stack the deck. It's the only way they can win anything.
kolby1973 06/20/2003
Another troublemaking human hater. Keep him out of the government.
GrtflMark 06/20/2003
Speaks his mind - and the truth. Persecuted by the Fascist Gay Left for his having religious beliefs that says he should not let someone else jam their crank up his butt - the most effective way to transmit AIDS, by the way. The Fascists Gays on the left are not interested in equality - or freedom of speech - only in initiating hatred against anyone who does not advance every scintilla of their agenda. Diversity of thought and opinion is what makes this country great - shame on the Fascist Gay Left for trying to shout down any voice that has a different view!!!
Will Hunting 06/19/2003
Brings shame to the Republican party. Jaw-dropping ignorant, divisive comments. His interviews are rambling, incoherent and illogical. Right up there with Quayle and Dubya in terms of deep thinking.
gmanod 06/17/2003
This man is a hate monger and a disgrace to the great state of Pennsylvania. I can't beleive that some with such high authority holds such fanatical views.
LadyShark4534 06/16/2003
This guy really hates gays. He thinks that if you don't automatically swing his way, You're evil. We've grown up with such an accepting society. It seems that Mr. Santorum wants to change all that.
Eric_Lowin 06/16/2003
Consider the past senators from Pennsylvania: Joe Clark..Hugh Scott..among others.. Now comes this grotesque little fanatic, so typical of the "modern", i.e., reactionary crypto fascist Republican party..a religious retrograde and a bigot...
rich2002 06/16/2003
Just crazy enought to make a difference.
ponerse 06/15/2003
Look up foot-in-the-mouth in the dictionary and Santorum's picture is there. What an idiot.

Pennsylvania's junior senator represents the "new" Republican Party.
MissTillie 06/15/2003
Sen. Santorum represents the thinking of mainstream Main Street America. He has a bright political future ahead of him.
Moosekarloff 06/04/2003
It's frightening and quite depressing to consider this birdbath is one of the shining up-and-coming stars of the GOP. That must be a totally talent-bereft outfit if this is the case. To begin with, this guy is anti-Social Security but represents the state that has the highest number of retirees excepting Florida: you'd think that would be enough for the voters of Pennsylvania, fueled by oldfart wank resentment, to turn this douche out as a One Term Wonder, but the folks out there in the Keystone State obviously have their collective heads up their collective butts. Secondly, he has every right to air his views on homosexuality, but considering how mentally retarded and out-of-touch his perspective is, you either have to write him off as a parochial, antiquated idiot or shiver in your boots over the fact that he's worked his way pretty far up in the Senate in a short period of time. This guy evidently does not believe in equal rights and protections under the law, a cornerstone liberty of our country he swore in his oath of office to protect, which is grounds for impeachment. He also does not feel that Americans have an irrevocable right to privacy, which indicates he's just another conservative autocrat who wants to turn our democratic republic into a fascist state. If you started poking around in his private life, personal finances and business dealings, he'd probably scream like a stuck pig. This is typical of those hypocritical GOPers. The Democratic party of Pennsylvania should locate an electable candidate and raise a pile of money and get the people to get rid of this enemy of the people.
Solenoid DH 05/10/2003
I've heard & seen all kinds of editorial statements about what Rick Santorum said recently that caused such controversy. But I never did hear what he actually said. Do any of you know where on the Internet I can find an exact quote, without any commentary? I'd like to see what he said before I make any judgments. I've searched already but haven't had any luck yet. Thanks!
twinmom101 05/06/2003
I hope Rick Santorum's kid comes up to him tomorrow and tells him he's gay. How narrow minded and hateful can one senator get? This waste of space even blows Trent Lott out of the cesspool of most bigoted senators. KikiD is so right. Enjoy hell, Rick.
KikiD 05/05/2003
Bible-thumping fascists like this WILL...read, WILL, wind-up in hell. I hope this homophobe is surrounded by 12 buf gay men in hell...and I hope I'm one.

An articulate, highly intelligent, powerful senator from Pennsylvania.
