 | Guy100 (1) 07/01/2004 | the IS-3, the most powerfull tank of world war 2. it's frontal armour was 250 mm thick! more than the maus's! (the maus had 240 mm frontal armour).
IS-3 was pretty small, had a powerfull engine, and a very power full 122mm gun. it's 12.7 mm MG could penetrate through walls! it's problem was, that it carried only 22 rounds.

It's D25 L/45 122mm gun was bigger then any other tank gun in service. And, with all that, it was quick! It was a very fast tank almost matching the Sherman. It entered late in the war and only able to participate in battles in and around Berlin. It wasnt a very tall tank and that proved very beneficial. It was a very tough tank to hit. It didn't show its full potential as it had limited use it street fighting. It was a relatively good match for any tank of the time.
