09/15/2007 | This looks like a classic Party game and it is, but it is also THE MOST in depth fighting game EVER. Nintendo never meant for it to get this hardcore, but with glitches galore the game has become phenomnal! The Pro Scene for this game has exploded, and theres much potential for even more stratgies in this game. Don't get in this game now, because it is just way too late to start playing this wait for Brawl, pick it up, practice and hard enough and hit the tournies to make money.

09/03/2005 | This game is great if u know how to play it, it never gets old and boring when u play with friends, the only way someone can see this game boring is if ur extremely bad at the game or u dont have friends to play with u so u continuely play level computers, that could get boring i would imagine, but if ur good at the game and u have good friends that come over and play u, this game never gets old, atleast thats my opinion on this :)

07/04/2005 | This is one of the ultimate games for a small group of friends. that said, it also has deep enough mechanics for an enjoyable single-player experience. I bought a Gamecube primarily becuase I knew this was coming out. Despite the dismal failure of the Gamecube, I don't feel cheated.

05/07/2005 | The sequel to the old Super Smash Brothers game on N64 is even better. There are more Nintendo characters to play as on here and more fighting modes and styles. If you like Nintendo, then it is likely that you'll like this game very much. You could spend many hours playing this game if you really get into the action.

11/28/2004 | One of the best video games of all time and certaintly a smashing piece of electronic entertainment! The sequel to the best N64 game, PERIOD, SSBM takes fighting games to an almost trascendent experience. The graphics flow with a smooth framerate and Nintendo characters are finally given the graphical justice that they deserve. THe sound, on Nintendo's first disc-based system since their aborted Playstation project, is superb and stereophonic. THe controls fit like a glove, if they move a bit faster than the original. Also, all the new stuff is mega-groovy! New characters, items and stages that just kick it! The characters are among the greatest to ever grace the video gaming world--Mario, Pikachu, Peach, Dr. Mario, Luigi, Kirby, Bowser, and more! Highly recommended to anyone who has EVER played video games!

06/18/2004 | The game is okay with regards to the fact that even when one is losing that they can still come out of the fight as the champion. Also, the game will leave you with many things to do in addition to just mindlessly attacking your friends and the computer. However, it requires a great deal of devotion in order to master it and that is most likely why many gamers may find this game annoying and stupid.

11/19/2003 | This game is quite addictive and playing it with others makes it even more fun. It made me feel quite nostalgic for the good ole days of gaming. The music, the characters, backgrounds, are from Nintendo games through the ages. The replay value of the game is high because there are endless amounts of stuff (trophies, characters...) to unlock. Have fun!

09/01/2003 | i love this game. ive been playing this shit for years. its the best 4 player melee game in the world. i used to think the first smash brothers was the best game in the world until melee came out and then melee became the best. i bought a gamecube for this game onlly. ive never owned, rented or even played any other games for the cube. no need when you have smash brothers. smash bros. rules!!!

03/07/2003 | THE greatest fighting game of all time. No fighting game has ever had such a complex fighting system that even takes a characters mass into account. Each character has his own strengths and weaknesses and you must develop your own style with each character to use them effectively. No fighting game even comes close to this.

11/08/2002 | I had been a while since I had boughta fighting game. The genre was stale to me for a while (that is until melee came to town). With all the different types of match-ups and difficulty levels you can set, it may be the greatest multiplayer game of all time (Goldeneye for 64 another fav.). Always great for when you and the buds get together. Another plus for this game is many characters (and many secret characters and stages to unlock....although it's sometimes ridiculous what a person has to go through to unlock them....ex. - Falco - 100 man melee).
