With parental permission, no less. They have more in common than you know.

I always felt quite strange around those mall Santas. I never sat on their laps once. Something just wasn't right...

I'm really sorry to read about Chancey's experience. If that's all true, the guy should have been thrown in a very deep hole with anyone else who has ever exploited a child. But, back in the dark ages when my sister and I made our yearly visits to Santa at the local shopping centers (malls were still a few years in the future)Mr. Claus was always the perfect gentleman. That may have been a reflection of the times or maybe we were just lucky not to have ever run into any perves - they were still around of course; they just didn't get as much press back then. My experience with the sweet old guy in the red suit never failed to be a positive one and rank among my best early childhood memories. I was so dedicated to the guy that I can even remember defending his existance long after the inevitable nasty rumors about the myth began to circulate in school. Overall, I don't see any harm in believing in Santa Claus - the story gave me a sense of wonder and sparked my imagination in a way that I will always treasure. It made me look to the heavens and believe that there really is a kind of benevolent magic and beauty in the universe. With a little maturity thrown in, that's not a bad way to continue to be able to view things througout your lifetime.

And they better be careful what they say when he asks them if they want a candy cane.

On behalf of child welfare advocate Gloria Allred, I propose we pass laws prohibiting Santa to have access to any Australian crocodiles.
