Ben Franklin and Thomas Jefferson hardly said a word in congress. It was also Adams who made the motion for George Washington to be the first commander of the army. I really don't think the would be a USA without John Adams.

 | Bytor & The Snowdog (0) 09/04/2005 | Probably the most under-rated of the FF, read the award winning book called John Adams by David McCullough....eveyone on the planet owns this man for a large piece of our freedoms today.

 | freebird_0128 (5) 01/12/2004 | A belligerent and pugnacious man, he was probably the most difficult of all the founding father to deal with. He was loud and bold with his convictions, forcing many new ideas to be heard in the newborn governement. He treasured a highly intelligent wife who counseled him on political matters and shared one of the most useful yet tumultuous frienships with Jefferson. Adams' contributions were necessary to the Revolution.

 | Anonymous (1) 01/11/2004 | John Adams was essential to the American Revolution. He stood up for his opinion on independence. He also recommended George Washington for the position of Commander of the Continental Army, and recommended Thomas Jefferson to write the Declaration of Independence.
