09/01/2004 | Without a doubt the best rock group ever. These guys were the first to smash guitars on stage the first to take rock into the realm of extended composition and the first to use feedback as music. They defined the London Mod scene of the sixties and became arena rock gods in the seventies. Tommy, Quadrophenia, Who's Next, and The Who Sell Out still stand as some of the finest albums of their generation. My Generation is still the ultimate punk song and Won't Get Fooled Again is one of the greatest rock anthems of all time. The Who have a recorded library that boasts more creativity and punch than any other rock group of their day and that is why they have endured even through Keith Moon's and John Entwistle's deaths.
