They were a manufactured band, contrived by the music industry to make a black artist more palatable to a white audience. Mitch Mitchell was way too busy on the drums, and Noel Redding couldn't play bass to save his life - he was a guitarist not a bass player. Some of the Experience stuff is good, but if you really want to appreciate Hendrix you have to listen to the Woodstock album, Band of Gypsies, and the Blues album. Noel Redding is pretty much absent from all this material, and Mitch Mitchell plays a small role in it. However, I do like some of his drumming on the Woodstock album. Its still busy but it suits the live vibe.
