The term "exit exam" sounds more like getting rid of the student exam, at any cost. And to make sure it happens, the academic requirements are so low, even a fourth grader can pass it. Ridiculous.

Being one of the first classes to actually take the exit exam in california, I can say that that test is an insult to my intelligence. If you can't pass that test, you really desrve to not graduate from high school. Some example questions are what is the square root of nine or what is the correct spelling of this word. Our essay question was writting about who do you think is a hero? (Unfortunetly they wanted a real life person and a lot of people in my year wrote on Harry Potter.) My friend actually wrote about how stupid he thought the essay was and ended up getting a 3.5 out of 4 (go figure). Anywho, I think the exit exam is a great idea and if you can't pass it, you have no right graduating high school anyway.

Not only do I feel that exit exams should be taken before a student can graduate I think a test should be taken at the end of every year to see if the student can go on to the next grade. Unfortunatly the state would just dummy down the tests so that more kids could pass them. It use to be that is a student didn't pass their I-Step test in Indiana they would have to go to summer school, take it again or couldn't go on to the next grade, I guess parents found that to harsh. They'd rather raise a bunch of dummies which makes the American work force weak than to buise a child's ego by keeping him/her back a grade. Never mind that they don't deserve to go on.

In my state they are proposing a law mandating an exit exam before graduating college. Being that we are already required to take a test before entering upper division, I consider this somewhat unnecessary and redundant. Standardized testing sets standards that are somewhat arbitrary. It tests only certain types of knowledge rather than measuring a person's actual capability. Accountability standards are fine in the elementary/secondary school level, but in college, the environment is completely different. Graduating seniors have to take other standardized tests like the GRE, MCAT, or the LSAT to go on to grad. school. I spend more time preparing for tests than actually learning, what a waste of time.

Shouldn't be an issue. If you don't study, then it's your fault you didn't pass. This idea is way to harsh for American parents who consistently alibi for their children's failures.
