To take on an empire of that magnitude and strength is an incredibly brave feat. With the likes of Stalin at the helm the Soviets were at times an extremely brutal force so to risk either death or siberian slavery is something few would dare try.

Tough, tough people in what for most of them, in their lifetimes was a doomed cause. Heroes none the same, and perhaps moreso because most of them never tasted the least breath of success.
