This is so easy to spot and so prevalent. "Since George Bush wants to crack down on terrorists, George Bush wants to take away our civil rights."

This one is endemic in political debates, and I fall into it myself if I'm not careful. Any time you hear the words Nazi or Communist or Socialist in political discourse, look for a straw man. Oh, and if you can't find this on RIA, you aren't looking very hard.

Oh, give me a break! If you've been listening to any media what-so-ever - especially during the most recent mud and crap slinging fest otherwise known as the presidential election, then you would know that BOTH sides do this with gusto ad nauseam. Or, did it possibly slip by anyone over the age of 10 that BOTH were calling each other everything from retarded to satanic. Members of BOTH sides ended up acting so nasty they were bordering on mental disorders. And, when all was said and done, I was not only ready to wretch I was more than a little ashamed of the whole fiasco. It seems that all you can ever seem to do is vote for whomever you can determine is the lesser of the two evils. Given all the verbal clutter and over abundance of BS this can be a daunting job for any person to attempt whether youre thinking left, right or just Mommy make it go away.

The stupid angry redneck republican evangelicals vote for radical right wing politicians, the puppets of corporate masters who want to starve women, children and the elderly while sending the youth off to die in wars only to enrich the investor class.

First of all, let me address the fact that my likening ClassicTVFan47 to Adolph Hitler was about 10% argumentative device and about 90% frustrated, sarcastic humor. I in no way claim him to be a goose-stepping, Aryan brown shirt. Rather, I was drawing a comparison between his rigid, irrational intolerance for everything HE doesn't agree with and the maniacal behavior of the Nazi dictator. Oh I'll admit that have been guilty of this at other times on a variety of subjects, but I just wanted it known that the ClassicTVFan47/Hitler thing became grossly misinterpreted. All Republicans want to steal medicine from old people and food from the poor so they can take all the money they saved and buy new golf clubs. Sure.

For example, this may be an unpopular opinion around here, but though I disagree with pretty much everything he says, I don't think ClassicTVFan should be identified with Nazis. It's a bit much.

I know exactly how this feels. There have been people in my life who I have talked to that call me a tyrranical dictator when I voice criticisms about the horrible working conditions in sweatshops in the Phillipines. Their logic is this (note the argument contains three logical fallacies): encouraging moderation in free trade is a liberal argument, all liberals are socialists, all socialists are communists and all communists worship Pol Pot and Stalin. Thus they manage to prove what a bad person I am from a single and completely irrelevant arguement. I have no time for these people.
