Very common mistake in RIA indeed. Instead of discussing the validity of the bible, some just point out what the bible says, ignoring the issue why and how the bible exists in the first place.

Very typical on RIA, especially when biblical issues are brought up. Most reviewers will deviate from the topic and ridicule and attack the reviewer, while never answering the content of the review.

Here is a common mistake that we have seen from time to time. I am sorry to say that we often see it on RIA and it is prevalent in several of our reviewers' postings. Example: "George W. Bush made a mistake in Iraq, therefore, George W. Bush is stupid."

This is rampant in popular culture, particularly in the musical realm. I rarely even look at, let alone contribute to pages here on RIA that deal with popular musicians for the simple fact that one can only read so many reviews about how good so-and-so is at owning sports cars or having platinum teeth and how that is what makes him good at whatever before you start screaming at your computer. In such an instance, A has nothing to do with B.

This is arguing an irrelevant tangent, while doing nothing to address the merits of the actual topic. This has happened when raters justify an opinion on a music CD with only points on whether the artist's public persona is good or bad. Now and then, a rater's movie reviews may overfocus on irrelevancies as well. It's okay to point out an acting performance as being especially magnetic, but the quality of a film can't be summed up by simply stating Frodo's a hottie.

The Dixie Chicks said bad things about the President. The Dixie Chicks are horrible musicians.

My personal favourite of this on RIA goes something like this. OJ murdered his wife, therefore he was a bad football player and terrible running back.
