He is the mascot and drummer of The Neptunes, a teenage rock group that live in an underwater civilization of the future. The 1976 series ran for sixteen episodes on ABC, and was created by Joe Ruby and Ken Spears.

Hey, jabber jaw was great. He gets my respect. But in all honesty, he was no pet! He was an animal who happened to be the main, title, character.
