A ferocious competitor with the mean streak that all great pitchers have, this guy is throw back to the pitchers of old, like Spahn and Drysdale and Gibson. Throwing high and tight is part of the game, or should be, and batters who can't deal with that should take up tennis or emboidery. As for the "shocking" incident of pushing Don Zimmer, get over it. At least he didn't put the boots to the old moron when he was down. I can think of a few thousand BoSox fans who would have paid for that privilege.

There are a few pitchers with the nerve to throw inside anymore, and he is one. He dishonored the sport when he pointed to a player in the other dugout and threatened to hit him in the head. That taunting (which the NFL now penalizes both the team and the player for) is dangerous. Ask Tony Conigliaro. Ask Gil MacDougall. Throwing inside is part of the game. Beaning someone intentionally gets you ejected and fined. Taunting should at least be punished, if not by the weakling umpires, then by the weakling acting commissioner. If Clemens taunted Piazza in this way, the echoes of outrage would still be resounding.

Scum - pure scum. Hitting an old man with a plate in his head after threatening to bean a batter.
