 | Skizero (15) 03/23/2005 | what a joke this is. i dont ever consider May 4th and i've not only been to the Vietnam Memorial 4 times, i've seen the traveling version 2 times. more than that, my father fought in Nam, a war the jerks in this country ignore or criticize for the most part. he lost a friend, who appears on that wall, to friendly fire. a fact this man's father didn't even know until 20 years later when my father tracked him down and told him so. our wonderful government blamed it on the enemy.

 | Djahuti (57) 03/23/2005 | Only the narrow minded and hateful could make this juxtaposition. My Uncle was decorated for his service in Viet Nam,and HE is a Democrat.I also have a good friend who was a Professor at Kent State at the time of that tragedy-to shoot young students for a peaceful protest in a supposedly free country just doesn't make sense. Both soldiers and protestors have put themselves on the line for what they believe in throughout history.Have some respect!

 | CanadaSucks (50) 03/22/2005 | I've been to both places and I find this a real cheap shot. The idea that Democrats (or dirtbag hippies) have no conceptualization of war and sacrifice is a holdover from a bygone era of fat, balding, middle-aged boomers. A girl at Kent State was shot in the back of the neck while holding her books on the way to class by a bunch of hicks lacking training. . .in the United States of America. Meditate on that before you take pot shots at dirtbag hippies, democrats, or anyone who you believe isn't a part or your narrow-minded vision of an America that has less, not more, freedom.

 | irishgit (156) 03/18/2005 | I'm nearly fifty, and unlike some of the children or near children commenting on this time period I actually remember it. Kent State was horrible. The War was horrific. That Wall in Washington is is shattering on a profound emotional level. I understand the point that is being attempted here, but it's missing something.

 | LadyShark4534 (12) 01/21/2004 | I went to the Vietnam memorial a while ago. I left some flowers against the wall.
And yes.......I am a democrat.

 | Enkidu (39) 01/19/2004 | Both were tragedies. The Vietnam Memorial is one of the most terrifyingly moving places in the U.S., that great black rift in the ground, with the names, names, names, some of which I knew, and remember. That was a ghastly time.
