 | angryjed (2) 01/18/2008 | He gets overlooked by modern fans, but man he had some awsome matches with Flair and the Macho Man. Not flashy enough for today's standards, but a great worker.

 | mjhmurphy (0) 01/18/2008 | My all-time favorite. So-so on the mic, maybe too smooth in the ring, but could sell his butt off. Great babyface.

 | lightfinger2000 (2) 12/09/2006 | I agree with kevin clayton, except because his interview skills were subpar I only give him a four.Next to Ric flair his ability to take punishment was a credit to push other opponants over to the crowd. He also was a very potent tag champion on several occasions with the late Jay Youngblood

 | raclos234 (1) 08/25/2004 | i first started watching the steamboat as a kid during his first stint in the mid 80's wwf. loved his fueds w/ the magnificent muraco, jake roberts and the macho man. then after FINALLY winning some gold he loses the belt to the honkytonk man? ouch.
his matches w/ flair in the nwa/wcw were great also. but how they portrayed stemaboat as the 'family man' taking his wife and kid to the ring...blah. the cynical citzens of the united states doesnt want to see that crap.
and it seemed after losing the title to flair and a short stint in the wwf afterwards...the dragon was gone.

 | thedragon (0) 08/15/2004 | Rick Steamboat is by far the best ever. He not only was an outstanding Pro Wrestler inside the ring but a real gentleman outside the ring. I was fortunate to have met him 3 different times and he was always very nice. Many athletes can learn a lot from this pro wrestling legend besides how to wrestle but how to treat the loyal fans. Rick if you read this know that the impression you left on many of your fans will be with them forever. Your the best John

 | Kevin Clayton (0) 08/01/2004 | Ricky The Dragon Steamboat (Richard Blood) is perhaps the greatest pure athletic performer to ever set foot in a professional wrestling ring. Many critics do not give Steamboat his proper due because they say that he wasn't great on the mic. Well, he really didn't need to be, because Ricky was the best consistent in-ring performer of his era. Whenever you bought a ticket to an event where Steamboat was featured on the card, you knew that you were getting more than your money's worth. Oh, and that unique arm drag was pretty awesome, too!

 | rogue (0) 02/19/2003 | In the ring he was clearly one of the best ever. Closest comparisons still working would be Benoit and Eddie Gurraro (SP). The only thing that held him back was a one dimensional personality, it just didn't work if he wasn't the good guy (kinda like Sting but far more skilled).

 | allknowing (0) 02/14/2003 | held bac cause of idiots like the WCW and WWF owners...ten times better than a Ric flair...very underrated....who knows what he could have done

 | Texx (0) 12/11/2001 | The most underrated wrestler in history. A universal pick in the locker room as the top worker of his day. The fued with Flair in '89 is the best WRESTLING fued ever staged producing four *****+ matches in the course of three months all with clean finishes and all in excess of forty minutes in length with NO rest holds. There are maybe two guys left in wrestling today that could still pull that off. His match with Savage at WM3 stole the show and is considered one of the three best matches of all time by insiders. He also holds the distinction as the only wrestler in major feds during the modern era to remain a babyface good guy for his entire career. It's common to turn crowd favorites into heels when the audience bores with them (i.e. Hogan, Austin, Rock) but no one who loves this business ever bored of Steamboat. He even made armdrags look like the coolest move you'd ever seen! He deserves to be in the top three at least.
