Dreadfully boring to watch, Roddick somehow still gets plenty of media attention.  He has lots of power to be sure, but the rest of his game, including his mental stamina, is weak.  Roddick's skills are best suited for hardcourts, a surface on which he will continue to remain competitive for a number of years.

That is actually really good...i mean even i would be really happy, if i was ranked 3rd worldwide in tennis. Besides u ppl know how hard it is 2 make it even 2 the top 20. I can understand why some like and some hate Andy. I knew his older brother John and I do know they were hard working kids when they were young. Andy is a talented player. The best player on the tour is way off base. Andy's strengths are also his weaknesses. First, his serve is very powerful but he doesn't apply enough slice on either his first or second serve when he's trying to go wide to the duece side. Next time you watch him play, you will notice both his serves will penetrate the back of the service box. He needs to learn how to add more slice and control the ball out wide on the duece side. His opponents will have to move forward to guard against the angle. That's when he needs to uncork the power. He's also fairly one deminsional in the fact that he doesn't adapt and find a way to win when his strategy of power isn't working. His volleys are suspect, when he moves in behind shots and he need to develop a bette slice backhand. Although the volley and slice backhand seem to be a thing of the past with alot of young players, it is the player who has the ability to change the variables of the ball (spin, pace and direction)at will that ultimately makes the complete player. As for him overtaking Federer, I don't see that ever. I used to tell my students to look at the players that were at the top of the game (i.e.- Sampras, Agassi, Courier, etc.) Each has a strength and weakness. Strengths for Sampras, his serve, forhand, backhand slice and volley. His weakness, his backhand topspin. Strengths for Agassi, his forehand and backhand topspin and his feet. His weakness,his serve and volley. I told my students that in the future there will be player with absolutely no weakness. Federer is the prototype for that player. He is the best I've ever seen and I thought this before he won his first major. Take a look at my review of him unde his name. As for Roddick, he's good for the game, a character with talent. As far as his attitude off the court, I'm sure he's not the nicest guy in the world. Afte all, he was raised in a fantasy world of wealth where all was given.

Andy Roddick is the best player around at the moment give him time he will soon take the no1 spot from federer. He great serve game which is BRILLIANT. roddick deserves everything as he works hard and plays even HARDER. keep it up roddick you have my support!

Andy is only popular because of his supposed good looks, however, I know a tennis player who is much better looking who is TIM HENMAN. HE is reasonably talented but nothing special.

This guy's backhand sucks. Any girl in the 14 and unders has a better looking backhand than he does. American corporations are paying the other tennis players to lose to this guy. I know plenty of people that can beat him at my local club, including myself.

I love andy roddick. he is a great tennis player i hope he wins all major competitons.

Big serve, big forehand, roddick is a boring one dimensional player to watch, his constant whining and bitching to the chair umpire when something doesnt go his way, won the U.S open beating a clay court specialist in the final, he couldnt even beat federer at all this year

GREAT - A pleasure to watch, you can tell this guy is mentally in tune when you watch him play. Better shot penetration that almost anyone I have seen ever....

I think he will probably win the 2004 wimbeldon.

Managed to win the U.S. Open, mainly because Sampras didn't play and someone else got Agassi and Federer out of the way. For the future, I see him as being a player like Jim Courier. He's basically got one kind of game, which is all power, and when everyone else becomes adapted to it, he won't be a factor in the slams.

When it comes to tennis he's good. But, he seems a little arrogant and needs to control his temper sometimes. And who cares if Mandy Moore is his girl. Like she's pretty anyway!

This guy has real potential. I think he will wwin a major tornement eventually......just needs to keep his anger in check..quite cute as well! ;)

Good player, but boring and mechanical to watch. Predictable, one-dimensional style...big serve, big forehand, two-handed backhand - but no touch, feel or finesse. Too much hysterionics on court. Can't understand all the hype and media attention surrounding this guy ("Wow, his girlfriend's even a movie star!")other than that he's young and American and wins more than the other young Americans - ok everybody, let's calm down already.

After that Blake match, what else can you say?

He's got a big game, and an interesting and demonstrative character. A-Rod is one of the best and brightest to watch.

He will be great. the best server today, but his bachand is a mess. Only two mistakes, he behaves like an xxxhole and he uses a golf cap.
