 | GoinDownSlow (31) 10/09/2008 | His work with Trucks on ABB's "Hittin' The Note", especially "Instrumental Illness" and, my favorite, "Maydelle" was absolutely superb. Finally the Bros going back to what they do best.
Not sure if he intends on staying with ABB, since he's been in and out for some years. But, with Betts now out of the picture, he's the perfect compliment to Trucks' searing slide, assuming he too decides to stay since they both have their own bands. Latest tour dates show them both on board, including one on the 13th for, Jesus H Christ, "Obama for America" voter turnout shit. This will definately test my love for the band.
Check out his work with Gov't Mule, which is always top notch. If you're in the Boston area, GM is playing the Orpheum on Halloween.
How the f*ck is he behind Ace Freeley??!!

 | garrettmo (0) 09/21/2007 | Ive seen Warren Haynes six times and Ive been blown away each time. He has exactly what it takes to produce a great show.
The man has talent. Hes played as Jerry Garcia for the Grateful Dead after Jerry died. Hes played as Duane Allman for the Allman Brothers after Duane died. He has his own band, Government Mule, and plays solo as well. Heck, the man even sponsors an annual three-day festival called Mountain Jam.
Warren has stage presence that I have witnessed in no other performer. Ive seen Pete Townsend, Steven Tyler, Tom Pettythey all have good stage presence. But not like Warren Haynes. The guitar looks like a toy in the big mans hands. Once he starts jamming, though, its immediately evident that it is no toy. He plays with a bluesy passion, shaking his head and slowly maneuvering his way around the stage. When watching him play I can not only hear the music he plays, but feel the music he plays. It is as though the music is not only pouring out of his guitar but out of his very being. I will never forget seeing tears stream down this big, burly rock stars face during an excellent cover of Led Zeppelins No Quarter. It does not, it can not, get any better than this.
For anyone wishing to attend a great show I would highly recommend seeing Warren Haynes. He is an amazing guitarist. He plays with intense emotion. He knows how to put an entire crowd in awe. Haynes knows how to rock.

 | wigscott (0) 01/28/2007 | Yep Warren Haynes belongs amoung the greatest ever. He almost exclusively plays Gibson guitars, Les Pauls, Firebirds, Explorers, 335's, Soldano, Diaz and Boyden amps. I personally LOVE Gov't Mule, seen them 3 times they are definetly one of the tightest, heaviest groups around, (Matt Abts rules too!). Warren always has a rippin' tone except when with the Allmans then the 335 sounds wonderful for a bit mellower tone, an excellent player be it with a slide or without. Great songwriter too. "Beautifully Broken", "Rocking Horse", "Thorazine Shuffle", "Life on the Outside", "Soulshine", "Mr. High and Mighty". Can you tell I'm a fan?

 | SlideGuitarfan (0) 05/17/2006 | Definitely the master of slide guitar. He plays slide faster than anyone I've heard except maybe Rod Price of Foghat.

 | Robbo59 (13) 11/12/2005 | Whether he's playing with The Dead, The Allman Brothers Band, or Govt. Mule, Warren Haynes is the best guitar player on the planet today. His musical range knows no limits and his expertise with the instrument is simply jaw-dropping. I've been privilaged to have seen Mr. Haynes about 30 times in several incarnations and always count myself blessed to be in his presense. He is exceedingly humble though he need not be. HAIL TO THE NEW CHAMP!! LONG MAY HE REIGDN.

 | operator 409 (7) 07/30/2005 | A guitarist who is versatile and is bound to have something to offer to all fans of the electric guitar. Every tune on every Govt Mule cd is a keeper...especially both of the Deep End issues. Warren Haynes GETS IT! He does a great job of mixing it up and keeping it interesting.

 | vetteman03 (0) 05/16/2005 | I agree with he is a monster on guitar, and that he could only be this low because people do not know him. Get the Allman Brothers DVD and watch Soulshine and Rockin' Horse, and prepare to pick your chin up off the floor.

 | Djahuti (57) 04/03/2005 | Whoa! What's this dude doing so low on this list?! This guy is a MONSTER on the guitar.I've seen him live:with the Allman Bros, with Gov't Mule & with the Dead.I'd put him in the top 5 !

 | ccessna (0) 03/01/2005 | The only reason he's this low is because there are too many people who don't know him. He's incredible, and can make a guitar sing. He's #2 on my all-time list behind only Phil Keaggy (who isn't even on this list somehow!!!) Jimi Hendrix was once asked, how does it feel to be the greatest guitar player in the world? He responded by saying, I don't know, ask Phil Keaggy Check him out. If you like Warren Haynes, Jimi, and other rock guitar, listen to Glass Harp, when Phil was a teenager. If you're open guitar that is less rock but beautiful, listen to his newer stuff.
