 | oscargamblesfro (82) 05/22/2006 | Although later included on "Electric Ladyland," this majestic and soulful ballad with some great wah-wah, deep lyrics, and beautiful harpsichord was recorded in America during their initial visit, and released first as a British-only single. It was successful, reaching the top 20 over there, though still a slight commercial disappointment as preceding singles sold better than this one. An awesome ballad that is just one of numerous examples that he was NOT just some zonked-out all precision and no feel acidhead musician that moralists, proponents of later guitarists, and some latter day revisionists claim. Hendrix could do almost anything that he attempted: psychedelic rock, hard rock, soul, blues, r&b, jazz, proto-fusion, tender ballads, pop, science fiction influenced predecessors to progressive rock, etc...
