Starting war only brings hatred to future generations, especially in the Middle East. The Middle East civilians don't have the technology to keep documented history, so war becomes legends from word of mouth. This has caused hatred far worse than it already was, so now we have to worry about future radicals and extremists. This war has cost us $2,000,000,000, an estimated 100,000 civilian deaths, and 4100 deaths of our bravest men. The government should of stayed at home and spent enough money on security here in America to protect and serve our troops, and our country. We are now finally sending special tactic groups to find Osama Bin Ladin. Why didn't we do that in the first place? Why can't our central intelligence figure out who is funding Al qaeda and cut them off? Terrorist attacks have gone up 900% throughout the world since the war on terror began. Only 24% have been in Iraq, but the number rises every year. Even though this war is being called a success and we are being told it is getting better, the numbers of terrorist attacks are skyrocketing. This is why the people who wrote the constitution believed in a non intervention foreign policy.

People who accuse Bush of going to far and taking away all our
liberties will be saying (when we get attacked again) he didn't do
enough to protect us.

 | oldiesmusicfan101 (10) 08/15/2008 | The future is a huge time frame so of course the States will be attacked again. I don`t see it happening anytime soon however. Why would they attack America when they can attack the Americans closer to home? Besides with the Patriot act still in effect the US government seems to be doing a good enough job terrorizing it`s people.

 | irishgit (156) 08/15/2008 | It is very likely that a future attack or attempted attack will be made.
And which party controls the White House has nothing to do with it, despite what gas-bag rhetoriticians would like to have you believe.

 | pansycritter (1) 10/03/2007 | 9/11 was an inside job by the Bush administration. I said that on 9/11 and I stand by that. The facts support it. They still have far too much time left in office, and yes, they would do it agian to further their cause.

 | EschewObfuscation (71) 10/12/2005 | We certainly SHOULD choose to live in fear. Anyone who doesn't acknowledge that these animals want to kill more innocent Americans should have his head examined. They attacked. Successfully. Wake up. If they thought they could, they'd attack you. Tomorrow, maybe today. They behead people on camera. They dance with glee over the destruction of huge buildings with thousands of innocent Americans being incinerated and crushed to death. They will try again. Count on it.
Victory over terrorism consists in continuing our lives as before, aware of the potential danger now. More vigilant, more attuned to preventing their attacks. But the more Americans who downplay the danger of another attack, the more likely such an attack is. How asleep were we on 9/10/01?
If the only way to advance against terrorists is through pre-emptive strikes, and it's the only thing that has curtailed their advance, then so be it. Let's elect someone who has the guts to continue the battle.

 | texas4cash (0) 11/20/2004 | I agree with Ignatius for the simple fact that I've been saying this for several years now. The Clinton administration didn't do anything concrete about the attacks on this nation, they certainly didn't when the USS Cole was bombed, I should know I've been in the Navy since that happened. 9/11 was waiting in the wings for years before it happened and it could have been stopped had previous presidents been as apt to pursue the enemies of the world like George W. Bush has been. GOD bless.

 | CherrySoda99 (31) 01/15/2004 | I think there's always going to be a fear of this. There always was. Although going to war, isn't going to solve anything. It will very more likely make things worse.

 | Redoedo (41) 04/22/2003 | "Trust me, with the US's new homeland security measures, you don't have to worry about many more terrorist strikes. The Taliban is gone, Al-Queda is in shambles and all is returning to normal here in the great country that is the United States. Terrorism is dying and peace will return shortly... " This is a post on this subject. I have one question for the poster- did your mother hide you under a rock your entire life and sheild you from the world, or did she simply not explain what the word realistic meant. There has always been and will always be terror in the world- I sincerely hope the number of terrorists can be reduced, but there are bad people everywhere. In the final analysis, initially after 9/11, I'm sure everyone felt that there would be more. Some folks even cut themselves off from society, never going to public places in fear of a terror attack. That is a shame.

 | DavCar (0) 04/08/2003 | These bastards came on our soil, and killed thousands of innocent Americans for no reason at all. I for one am not gonna live in fear. America is the greatest country on earth, no question and our gov't is now taking every precaution neccesary to protect us. All I can say is payback is bitch, Goodbye al-queda!

 | BIGBABY (11) 02/27/2003 | We can't let the terrorists scare us- or they win. Still, from time to time, a possible terrorist attack makes me shudder. I live in Lowell, Massachusetts, where there is really nothing to attack- it makes me happier.

 | Jason1972 (6) 12/17/2002 | We should never be feared by another attack but we always should be concerned and vigilant. If fear of more attacks became a predominant way of life, then that's not a way to live in freedom. I'm in the military, and I'm proud to serve so we can all live in a world of free democracy. I know for sure that there will never be another attack of the magnitude similar to 9/11, not in this generation anyway.

 | Wizesouljah (0) 11/12/2002 | I grew up in the inner city and gangs terrorized the neighborhoods on every corner. A terrorist attack is on my list next to a lightning strike. Im more afraid of those who would pretend to be a terrorist in order to further their own sick agenda (the sniper for example) or maybe a business man who wants to fraud investors..or a politician who wants to change his constituents attentions. We cant live in fear of something we barely understand, and the media does a terrible job explaining the current situation in a way that is objective yet patriotic.

 | Skysthalimit (0) 10/18/2002 | There is no telling what is going to happen. You would think that 9/11 would've opened some eyes. I guess not. Our nation is not as strong and secure as we thought. We can't live in fear but at the same time we can't think that nothing will ever happen. There could be another terrorist attack. There has been things reported going on that the media does not release to us. We need to stick together as a nation instead of being so selfish and heartless.

 | AmazingMole (0) 09/11/2002 | al-Qaida are not in shambles. Two of the members are bragging about the WTC on Arab TV stations. I heard that Osama Bin Laden's 22yr old son is taking control of the terrorist network. These al-Qaida rats are quietly planning their next attack. The day America can rest is when they have Osama bin Laden's head and the terror network shut down.

 | CastleBee (89) 12/09/2001 | Waiting for the other shoe to drop is always a nerve wracking experience - especially when you feel pretty sure it will have to in some way or another. Sometimes I have this spastic feeling that I would like to move way out in the sticks and wait until the world grew more sane. I think I would be there much longer than I'd like to be so I guess I'll stick around and deal with things day by day...it's really all any of us can do anyway.

 | abichara (66) 12/07/2001 | While the fear of future terrorist attacks is there, I do not let my life be dominated by this fear and I don't think anyone else in this country should. Yes, there will probably be more attacks, but that is not a reason for mass paranoia. The terrorists would have won if give in. FDR said on his inaugural address in 1933 during the depths of the depression that "the only thing we have to fear is fear itself". Fear isn't a good word, being aware is a better phrase to describe our vigilance towards the terrorist threat. It is much more harder now to carry out a terrorist attack than it was before September 11th. We must remember that law enforcement is keeping an eye out for all possible terrorist threats. Terrorist networks are no longer as strong as they were before; the U.S. government has cut off funding for these operations, thus severely cripping their ability to carry out evil actions. That is not to say that something could still happen at the hands of a lone lunatic wanting to destabilize the United States some more. Remember, be vigilant, not fearful.

 | TheFreak (5) 12/06/2001 | Again, honesty tops jumping on the bandwagon in my priority list. I am really and truly not that scared of future attacks. The damage has been done; there is a permanent stain (which I'm sorry to say is a bloodstain made of innocent American and Afghan blood) on the US of A's history, and bin Laden & Co. have celebrated enough. Now that the US is reacting perhaps a little too strongly? and the country is in a state for which I cannot blame them of slight paranoia, attacking again would be a huge risk for the Taliban and Friends. They are not idiots like some are making them out to be; they are evil geniuses. The Taliban knows when enough is enough. I am not saying that we will for sure never have a terrorist attack again; just that we don't need to be on our front porch with a gun pointed at the sky 24/7. Take care, everyone!

 | ellajedlicka21 (6) 12/06/2001 | This is one of the most. Although there is always that fear at any time that a terrorist activity could be happening, it puts you now on special alert because it has happened already.

 | magellan (179) 12/05/2001 | I think this is a huge change in our collective lives. It's hard for me to see a major event in our culture - the World Series, the Emmy Awards, and Election - without thinking in the back of my mind that it could be a target for a terrorist attack. Also, thinking logically, there is no way that our government can protect every possible target 24 hours a day - it's just a matter of time before something else gets hit...
