04/14/2007 | My Morning Jacket is an alternative rock group with some country
flavor and atmospheric leanings. Their songs are consistently
engaging, but never really great. On most tracks Jim James' voice
is strained or overwhelmed by the rest of the band. Despite this
shortcoming, I still enjoy listening to My Morning Jacket from time to
time.

I generally tend to shy away from jam rock but these guys are pretty good. A bunch of superb rockin songs. Hopefully recent member departures will not hurt the band's future. If they can forge ahead My Morning Jacket will be a big force in the music world for a long time to come!
