 | stolypin (3) 11/30/2004 | Too crowded between Richmond and DC, especially around DC). The NC portion is soon to be a toll road, I think? And the South Carolina/Georgia sections are way to narrow for he amount of traffic. But it is America's Main Street.

 | Sundiszno (32) 07/18/2004 | Just drove this stretch of I-95 last week and return trip this week. Basically a pretty decent interstate; traffic moved along at a great clip, plenty of rest areas, and road surface almost uniformly OK. The drive did get somewhat boring in South Carolina and Georgia. I got the impression that the Georgia State Patrol (I'm pretty sure that's what they call the state police) were just waiting a couple of miles or so from the border with both SC and Florida to nab speeders (saw troopers at both ends of the Georgia stretch, and saw one car get pulled over). The Northern Virginia portion of I-95 can get too congested; we lengthened the trip back to Pennsylvania by cutting across to I-81 to avoid Friday afternoon DC and Baltimore traffic; probably turned out to be a good move.

 | abichara (66) 03/28/2004 | It'll go up to 5 stars once they finish expanding the road to 6 lanes in parts of Georgia and South Carolina. Traffic builds as you approach Washington DC, but it's well managed. The traffic on this entire stretch of highway can be bad, especially during vacation periods when it seems as if all of New Jersey and New York are on I-95 either to or from Orlando. It's one of the most heavily traveled interstates in the country, one that I use it a lot to get up to the Northeast from Miami. There are lots of places to see along the way as well (Savannah, Charleston, Tidewater area of Virginia). Where I-95 runs today used to be known as the King's Highway during Colonial Times. This path was chosen to connect the colonies primarily because the land it runs through isn't swampy like the land along the coast.

 | zuchinibut (45) 02/06/2004 | Although the road narrows to two lanes in South Carolina and Georgia, this is a great stretch of 95, besides Northern Virginia. Best part about this is that there are no tolls, traffic keeps on moving.
