 | Mr.Political (18) 10/01/2004 | Well, considering the fact that Bush has already won the nomination, it would be a little difficult to have this actually happen. Never the less, this would be a shock- but not at all a good one.

 | eeP (1) 07/31/2004 | That will happen as soon as the palestinians and the iraelies all move to china, where the irish are waiting for them to shoot them with bagpipes and conquer the world for the french.

 | abichara (62) 04/04/2004 | This would be the only real shocker on this list. Barring any unusual circumstances, Bush will win the Republican nomination for a second term. No one has even bothered to mount a challenge against Bush in the primary this year; he's well on his way to raising 200 million dollars. No one in their right mind would be willing to stake their political career against that organization. But personally, I'm dismayed that no one has even bothered to stand up against Bush within the party. I'm a Republican who voted and worked for the Bush campaign. On many issues from foreign policy to fiscal policy, George Bush has by and large been a major let-down. I think the problem with Republicans now is that they have become so power hungry that they will pursue policies that are damaging to the country. The realist and moderate wing of the party has been completely silenced. That isn't good for the party and eventually, we'll all have to pay the piper. So on the balance George Bush hasn't done so much good for the country. While his leadership after 9/11 was admirable, he lost a lot of key opportunities to improve our relationship with the world. I understand that you'll never find a candidate who you will agree with 100% of the time, but you can't ignore Bush's irresponsible stewardship. This time around, I'm not going to help out with Bush's re-election efforts. I can't defend a lot of the President's actions. My sincerest hope is that someone gets the guts to run against Bush in the primary who will challenge him on pre-emptive action in the Middle East and high spending at home. That will be good for the Republican party and the country to have a legitimate conversation on the direction of this country.

 | Irate Landlord (0) 03/30/2004 | If this happened, it would demonstrate a remarkable ability on the part of Republicans to put the good of the country and the world over the good of the GOP. (Or maybe not, maybe it would show that they realize that they have a better chance of winning with a candidate less fanatical than Bush.)
