Absolutely. "No Matter What" started the genre powerpop (influenced by Beatles, Who, The Move). Today, every pop rock band is influenced or their faves were by this band. Classy.

The simple Fact that they wrote without you should have insured thier induction add No matter what, Day After Day, baby Blue & you have a bonified Great band that is more important Than Patti Smith who's only hit record was a cover of a bruce springsteen song what a joke Badfinger belongs in!!!
MacDaNife 07/03/2009
possibly the least lucky band in the history of music...still had a hat full of classic moments with connection sto teh Beatles' Paul & George, along with Todd Rundgren..
devasic1 04/23/2009
The hits are great and timless. Pop rock songwriting at its best, but they didn't last long enough or make much of an impact. So they wont get in for a long time.

Pete Ham and Tom Evans were pure rock and roll no BS from the heart. Joey and Mike rounded out this quartet of perfection. I love the classics like Day after Day, Baby Blue, No Matter What and even Come and Get It but also love the lesser know tunes like Better Days, Believe Me and Suitcase. I love it when you talk about the song Without you and people say " Oh Yea, thats that Harry Nillson tune right?" and you drop it on them that this is actually a Badfinger tune. A terrible tragedy with crooked management that drove such talent to dispair and suicide. These guys have provided influences to many over the years. RIP Pet, Tommy, and Mike... When Joey joins you, Badfinger will be back together once again. Remember Badfinger!!

So many great singles came from Badfinger(as well as the Iveys and Pete Ham). These guys are what the Hall of Fame should be about.
TeresaG 09/27/2008
Ran into the drummer for Badfinger about 15 years ago ~ in a bar ~ another lost star. Maybe SOMEDAY they should be inducted, not quite sure. All I can really say is that their songs make a lot of cover bands happy.
Katrinabena 07/08/2008
They are definitely underrated but I don't know that their catalog is well known or strong enough to put them in ahead of some other bands.
MaryCaravella 07/08/2008
These guys need to Be In It is so sad as it is the tragic times this band endured with only one classic Lineup member still alive Put these guys in

These guys endured so much crap & They have a Unending Link to the Beatles, Put Them In The Hall Of Fan

I like some of their songs, but I don't think there's enough there to strongly recommend them.
pierrot 10/12/2007
Among the most overlooked bands in rock history. Wish You Were Here is a masterpiece and would be recognized as such by many if Stan Polley hadn't fucked things up for them.
phillyiris 09/20/2007
I've never been on the Beatles bandwagon. Anyone who calls Badfinger a Beatles rip-off has never listened to their music. What the Beatles had was a manager who was a promtional genius. What they lacked, and what Badfinger had a limitless supply of, was HEART and PASSION for music. Even the Beatles' "peace and love" songs sound calculated and hollow. Cynics wouldn't "get" the music of Pete Ham, so there's not use in trying to convince them otherwise. I would gladly never hear another Beatles song for the rest of my life, but I'll listen to Badfinger every day.

a lot of untapped potential as circumstances preventing them from reaching their peak. truly one of the saddest stories in the history of rock.

Tragic and Brilliant Badfinger deserves some recognition for writing one of the greatest power ballads of all time (Without You) plus the other great songs Like No Matter what, Day after day, Baby Blue etc.... Give Mike,Pete,Tom (R.I.P)to all 3 of them & the last surviving two members Ron Griffiths & Joey molland The accolates they deserve

Badfinger and Raspberries are great power pop bands. The genre needs to be represented, but not by these guys. The mid-late 70s had better bands to represent -- Cheap Trick, Big Star, dBs.

Good band. Good tunes. But no Rock Hall level acheivements by a long shot.

Seriously, the best band ever! How could they not already be in and why is it such a fight to get them recognized???
BadBeatleFinge r 10/04/2005
How can Badfinger not be in the R&R Hall of Fame and some of these other jokers make it? Gezzzzzzzz get with it...Who actually makes these decisions? Is it the so called current day musicians that haven't a clue of how to tune a guitar?
FuzzyJ 09/26/2005
Some GREAT songs.....but overall? Not sure!

If ever a band has been sadly passed over by the Rock and Roll of Fame it surely is Badfinger! I was lucky enough to see many of the concerts in the early '70's, and they were four strong players and each incredible songwriters. Without You, which most people remember best as being covered and made popular by Harry Nilsson is considered one of the top 10 songs of all time, and each of their first three or four albums is just loaded with tunes that, over time, only grow more wonderful and are true rock classics. And, this truly was one of the hardest working bands in rock 'n' roll...in the space of about 4-5 years, they put out an album, an excellent one I might add, about every 6 mos., and toured--a more grueling schedule than most bands encounter...while staying at the top of their game. Sadly, Peter Ham and Tommy Evans are no longer with us due to suicide because of poor management (the classic rock story,) but for the two surviving members--Joey Molland and Mike Gibbins, both still working and prolific in their writing and in dedication to the memories of Peter and Tommy, a place in the RRHOF is a slam-dunk proposition.

No doubt...Badfinger is deserving to be in the Hall of Fame. Rock on Badfinger!!!
Catswalk 08/31/2005
Badfinger was an excellent band and my second favorite after The Beatles. I love ALL of their songs. They deserve to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, without a doubt.
JohnBlack 08/25/2005
Great group nonne ever can copy there style. They realy need to be in the Hall of Fame.
peterskinka 08/24/2005
Well, what can you say? A great band, fantastic songs, four songwriters (AND singers)in a four-piece group. Due to tragic circumstances they have been highely ignored and therefore unknown to a lot of music lovers. I just think that thrity years after it's time that Badfinger get the recognition they deserved in the first place!

My dad And Joey are friends. Almost three years ago my suffered a TBI (Tramatic Brain Injury) Though for the first weeks (Months) Following his accident all pur names were touch and go, But if we handed him his guitar, drum sticks or put him behind the piano he wailed just like old times. Didn't miss a beat. He's would be so happy to ( He is so happy to hear) that BadFinger is on the RRHOF list. Good luck guys!!

How Badfinger could not be in the Hall Of Fame is a mystery to me. They were a great band. Never mind the Beatles stigma they carried with them. The great songs, the musicianship. Some bands and individuals seem to get overlooked alot when it comes to R'n'R Hall of Fame. They had a soulfulness to thier music. Harmonies that would rival Crosby, Stills and Nash. They paid so many dues. Ultimately with the suicides of Ham and Evans. Come on powers that be....do the right thing and get them inducted already. How can they recognized by Ascap and not the rock community?
bwr_rick 05/22/2005
BADFINGER: a 70's Power Pop Rock group. A string of hits including Come And Get It', 'No Matter What', 'Day After Day', 'Baby Blue' and 'Without You'. But they were more than just these hit songs. The four principle players were each gifted song craftsmen; they produced nine published albums - three that are considered classics. This group also has a tragic side; the suicide of two of its founding members!
Rovers 05/18/2005
Badfinger absolutely deserves a place in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The released at least a handful of terrific albums, and they had an oustanding singer and songwriter in Pete Ham. Pete Ham and bandmate Tom Evans also wrote the classic Without You which twice hit the top of the charts, with both Harry Nilsson and Mariah Carey.
ldundus 05/11/2005
I had the pleasure of seeing these guys in concert back in 1973.The concert was great. They DESERVE to be in the hall Of Fame.
